Girls That Fly
When starting the whole idea of creating girls jumping organization/association back in November last year, June Fladborg was certain it will be successful,” I was contacted by a silent sponsor who asked if I was interested in starting up an organization for the women jumpers. He wanted me to start up from scratch obviously, but we would follow our own road. Of course I thought it sounded very interesting and would be a big challenge as well. Then I had my injury so the whole thing got put on hold for a while until I one day from my hospital bed started working on contacting tournament organizers and started negotiations. It was also then, I thought about the idea of making a calendar, together with other ways of bring revenue into the GTF. I started sending out group emails, to get the girls involved and to have their opinion and back up on this. Everyone liked the idea of the organization and we are together working forward now.”

Our short term goals are to finish our marketing material and approach sponsors to be able to create more events. To increase awareness around Girls That Fly and more particularly around women's water ski jumpers.
Our Long term goals are to promote professional women's jumpers and create our own GTF pro tour. Develop and improve public awareness of GTF and to gain more support from the outside of the water ski industry and Increase media recognition
This year GTF supported 3 pro events, which was our original goal. We bring some of our own funds to these tournaments and in conjunction with the organizers we have GTF build into the tournament as a sponsor and we have the opportunity to sell our clothes, calendars, etc at a booth at these event. Make people aware of what we are and what we are trying to do. The goal is to have our own GTF tour going eventually. For the next year we are trying to get 4-5 stops.
We don't have major sponsors yet apart from our major inside supporter, but we are sure they will come when they see what we are trying to do + our marketing material will be top notch:-) We already have people interested especially our new calendar has brought us a lot of attention.
Supporting GTF by joining or getting a hat, t shirt etc will help the organization raise funds which then goes into new tournaments, marketing, GTF in general.
We have already set up our membership opportunities for anyone who would like to be a part of GTF or just a fan on our web site Girlstatfly.org
