The 2013 MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Shootout a Huge Success

ShootoutHeader

On August 8 & 9 the world’s best water ski jumpers and slalom skiers converged on Calgary to compete at the MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Shootout at the Lakes of KastynStone. The preliminary rounds were held on August 8th with the Finals and the Shootout, with the top 2 skiers, being held at high noon on Friday, August 9. The skiers and jumpers entertained the spectators with great performances. We witnessed amazing slalom skiing as 39’ off / 10.75m was run an impressive 23 times over the 2 days. In the prelims, a site record was set by Nate Smith at 5 buoys at 41’ off / 10.25m but that record was broken with a new record of 5.5 buoys at 41’ off/ 10.25m set by Will Asher of Great Britain. “While Whitney McClintock took first, MasterCraft Team Skiers Karen Truelove Krueger and April Coble-Eller finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Nate Smith took top spot in the men’s slalom followed by Will Asher and Chris Rossi. Ryan Dodd and Freddy Krueger, who also broke the course record in the prelims, battled it out all day to take the crown for the pro men jump. Dodd, the hometown favorite, ends up in first place while Freddy took second.”

“On August 7th, MasterCraft Boat Company held its breath as it revealed it newest icon – the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar – hoping it would win the hearts and minds of the waterski community. After three days packed full of non-stop demos and competition skiing, the votes have been tallied – the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar is the new darling of the waterski coterie. On Wednesday August 7th, MasterCraft held a media day for magazines, bloggers and local pubs to ski and drive the new boat. The reactions were immediate – they were blown away by the unparalleled form and function that MasterCraft achieved with the ProStar. In fact one media guest commented, “This is the best tournament boat I have ever seen or skied behind and it’s amazing at all line lengths and speeds. MasterCraft certainly hit a home run with this boat.” “The MasterCraft Calgary Pro Waterski Shootout and the reaction from the skiers who competed in this event behind the new ProStar ended up being beyond anything we could have imagined.”

“We are extremely proud to sponsor and support this incredible event,” says Martin Motor Sports Director and water ski enthusiast Ave Spratt. “It was so exciting and satisfying to watch new personal bests and new standards being set on Canadian waters time and again behind the new 2014 MasterCraft ProStar . We’re delighted to stand behind a boat that gives every skier at any age, skill level or line length the chance to instantly succeed. And succeed they did!” Master Craft nailed it with this new benchmark Pro Star and due to its performance, the record books are about to be rewritten. Martin Motor Sports is the world’s largest MasterCraft dealer with locations in Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon, and is honoured to be a presenting sponsor of the MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Shootout.

Thousands of spectators lined the shores to watch these great skiers compete for top prize money. We wanted to make this the best 3 hours of water skiing. We wanted the spectators to experience the thrilling sport of slalom skiing and jump skiing, in an action packed format, leaving wanting more. Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters of this event. We were very excited with the success of the launch of the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar and so excited that MasterCraft chose our event to unveil their new boat. The MasterCraft Shootout will be back again next year. Watch our website for more details on when our highlight show will be released on Shaw TV.
