USA Water Ski announced today that it has named Bob Crowley as the organization's new executive director. Crowley brings more than 20 years of executive management experience to the national governing body of organized water skiing. He will begin his new position on June 1 and work part-time until July 1.

"We are excited that Bob Crowley has signed on to help take our organization to the next level in its development," said Jim Grew, president of USA Water Ski. "His success in both sponsor and membership development is most welcome. With an experienced and dedicated staff teaming up with him, we can look forward to renewed energy and focus."

Most recently, Crowley served as executive director of US Speedskating from 2006 through the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. After accepting a three-year contract in 2006, Crowley served four years at US Speedskating. During his tenure, US Speedskating relocated its national headquarters from Cleveland, Ohio, and short track national training programs from Colorado Springs, Colo., to Salt Lake City, Utah, and created powerful national training programs in Salt Lake City. US Speedskating garnered the support of Stephen Colbert as the 2010 Olympic Winter Games approached, and US Speedskating athletes won 10 of the record-setting 37 total United States medals at the Games.

Crowley also has served as figure skating director and head coach of the Bozeman Figure Skating Club in Bozeman, Mont., 11 years as associate executive director of U.S. Figure Skating in Colorado Springs, Colo., and executive director of the Indiana/World Skating Academy in Indianapolis, Ind.

"I am very enthused about being named executive director of USA Water Ski," Crowley said. "I am looking forward to sharing the successes we have had during my tenures with other sport NGBs and providing that knowledge and direction for the betterment of USA Water Ski. This will be a terrific challenge and I am eager to live in Florida with my family and begin working with USA Water Ski."

Upon receiving endorsement from USA Water Ski's five-person Search Committee, Crowley's hiring was subsequently approved by USA Water Ski's Executive Committee and the organization’s board of directors.
