Having a problem with keeping my ski on edge during my toe side pre turn. I had an observer watching my last sets on Sunday he said I was not getting enough of the front of my ski in the water and my ski was kind a proposing or rolling back of edgenot staying set. His advice was to force my knees forward up over the ski and in towards the buoy. When I did this the ski stopped proposing and started to carve. The comment was better but need to be more on edge and and i was not finishing the turn.

Question: I believe the observers advise was good and something I should work on but should I having to work that hard to keep the ski on edge. No problems on my heel side turn.

Currant #s are 06 d3 X5 66.5"weight 150 lbs.

Hey John,

Yes it's SkiWest Donny and good guess where the advice came from. I won't be up there next weekend but will be around the following one and would love some help.

Sounds to me like you already have plenty of length.  If you're looking for a tune fix (as opposed to technique changes) I'd suggest moving the fin forward (more dft) and/or more wing angle.

(PS: 2.484 [on that ski] seems a little shallow to me, but YMMV.)

Here are the stock numbers for that ski. You're pretty far off from that. Were it me, I'd reset the ski to the factory numbers and give it a go. That ski has a TON of testing over the years and those factory numbers are pretty good for most skiers.

 lenght 6.93 tips
depth 2.517
DFT .770 needle
bindings 29.5
wing 7
