Baller bhs Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 Got a call from a friend of mine at nationals and he said that O'Brien is selling the Elite for $990! This is a ski I really want to try but I have to confess its mainly for cosmetic and warranty reasons. The posts I have read don't seem to positive... am I missing something??? Good looking ski, good warranty and designed by the man himself! So I am looking for some feedback from those who have tried it and are riding it. Thanks
Administrators Horton Posted August 11, 2010 Administrators Posted August 11, 2010 No. I Love this ski and pretty much every skier I have sold one to is very happy. I have sold 10 - 15 in the last year. For that price GET IT!MS - shut up you are wrong. Baller MattP Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 the $990 Elite sounds like a special on the 2009 models. The 2010's are out and the 2011's are right around the corner. I bought mine from Horton and am really happy with it. It is a great ski! " For that price GET IT! "
Baller skidawg Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 Don't look back, write the check, MS knows nothing
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 Damn, I need to find someone who's there who can pick a 67 up for me.
Baller skidawg Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 Shane, get mueller to ride that 67 this week!
Baller jdarwin Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 I have one coming back w/ Jones. After riding Ward's this past weekend, I'm interested in spending some time on it and trying to dial it in for my style. Andy is setting it up for me and Alvin has given me some tips regarding binding setup. Good guys w/ lots of access to support.
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 Dawg, He's waiting on a binding plate so he can bolt his back binding down.
Baller teammalibu Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 I still think when i rode dawgs new 68 it was the best set I ever had but he wouldnt part with it.I plan on spending some time on the new layup 68 this fall to see if it was for real or just a hot first date!!Â
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 I got right on Dawg's 67 and ran up to my pb on the 2nd set. Was about to pull the trigger on a used 67 but if I can find someone to pick me up one at nationals this week, I'll do that.Â
Baller thager Posted August 11, 2010 Baller Posted August 11, 2010 Elites a great ski. Just wished you guys changed your underwear as often!!!!
Industry Professional Adam Caldwell Posted August 12, 2010 Industry Professional Posted August 12, 2010 Buy and Elite. Best ski made right now. Once your set up on the Elite, your sking will advance to another level.
Baller Dirt Posted August 14, 2010 Baller Posted August 14, 2010 Skidawg, what numbers are you running on your 68 Elite?
Baller skidawg Posted August 14, 2010 Baller Posted August 14, 2010 6.837, 2.509, I'm drawin a blank on dft, thinkin .934, haf 2 look and get back at u
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 14, 2010 Baller Posted August 14, 2010 Dawg, a few weeks ago I think you said you were in the .791 to .794 range on dft.
Baller skidawg Posted August 15, 2010 Baller Posted August 15, 2010 Not on the 68, gonna ck in a minute, maybe .835, I should kno this w out lookin
Baller skidawg Posted August 15, 2010 Baller Posted August 15, 2010 Ok, just checked, me=bonehead, .7905 dft now, I've run it as far forward to .7935, hope smart didn't try .935, that may b funny though
Baller Dirt Posted August 15, 2010 Baller Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks Ward I'll try those numbers today. Where are you running the front binding?
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 15, 2010 Baller Posted August 15, 2010 Dude, if I say it's so, It's so! LMAO
Baller skidawg Posted August 15, 2010 Baller Posted August 15, 2010 Front binding should be bt 30 1/8" to 30": I've tried both, I like 30 better
Baller Dirt Posted August 15, 2010 Baller Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks Dawg (and Shane for saving me from an interesting ride)

Baller Dirt Posted August 16, 2010 Baller Posted August 16, 2010 Went back to rubber bindings from Strada and used Skidawgs numbers...way better so far. Seems to get better as the line gets shorter.
Baller jdarwin Posted August 17, 2010 Baller Posted August 17, 2010 Just picked up my new Elite (thanks for bringing back from Nationals Scot). Not sure how it will compare to my current ride but the craftsmanship is amazing! This thing is a work of art. Andy set the fin up so we'll see how it performs when I get back in town tomorrow.P.S. - got Ward's Prodigy's w/ me also - very nice looking set up.
swerveit Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Has anyone measured up with a reflex on a 68? what would anyone recommend for 36mph? (Currently im at 30") thanks
Baller jdarwin Posted August 18, 2010 Baller Posted August 18, 2010 I'm using a Reflex front and mounted up at 30.125 per Andy's recommendation. He stated either 30 or 30.125.And, Andy's fin setting on my ski is a bit different - 6.855 (tips), 2.500, .777. That is longer, shallower and further back than most. Should be an interesting ride.
Old MS Accout Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 JD,Get a donar lined up prior to skiing so the wait time isnt so long.
Baller skidawg Posted August 18, 2010 Baller Posted August 18, 2010 That's it MS, ur in trouble now! Told u not to go there, Eh!
Baller scoke Posted August 18, 2010 Baller Posted August 18, 2010 HOrton: "No. I Love this ski and pretty much every skier I have sold one to is very happy. I have sold 10 - 15 in the last year. For that price GET IT!" "Pretty much" sounds like "every skier". Maybe "most not all" would be more appropriate....
swerveit Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Thanks jdarwin, however Andys settings are for a 67" , im on a 68, was wondering where I should be? I actually think im slightly less than 30.... which looking at Andys settings and considering im on a 68; cant be good..

Baller skidawg Posted August 18, 2010 Baller Posted August 18, 2010 My numbers are similiar for both skis, a bit shallower on bigger ski and a bit further forward, jd's ski was set up for him by Andy, not andy's numbers
Baller MrJones Posted August 18, 2010 Baller Posted August 18, 2010 Swerveit, Andy set those numbers for Joe's 68 before I picked it up at nationals.
swerveit Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 hey guys thanks allot, il give them a try, cant be any worse than it is at the moment....
swerveit Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Out of interest what would be the pros and cons of being around 29.8 ish?
Baller Alvin_Neff Posted August 19, 2010 Baller Posted August 19, 2010 Swervit, you might notice a disadvantage in your offside turn on this ski being back on the 68. As you get closer to 30 and 1/8th you will see a better offside turn and possibly a more stable ski being in the middle of the sweet spot. Andy has been moving some bindings back a little this year but you must also move the fin back with the binding. The nelwy redesigned 68" is  completely different than last year's ski. The numbers for the newest layup are: .785,2.490,6.860 with front binding at 30" from the tail. You can email me @ alvinneff@mac.com if you have any questions for me. Good luck with getting your ski dialed in, you will love it once you find your settings!
Baller jdarwin Posted August 19, 2010 Baller Posted August 19, 2010 With Andy's numbers, the ski felt much different than when I skied on Ward's last weekend (Ward's numbers are shorter, deeper and forward). The on-side turn is much smoother and doesn't drop in too hard - this was my biggest complaint w/ Ward's ski and the 68" I rode last year. The off-side is nice but a bit "sticky" and doesn't move out off the 2nd wake w/o some effort. I'll probably take out some of the length but the depth and DFT seem to work well. BTW, I put my calipers on the ski last night and came up with 6.855 / 2.500 / .781 DFT - 8 deg wing.
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted August 19, 2010 Baller_ Posted August 19, 2010 I was blowing the tail occasionally at 2.505 and increased depth to 2.515. Bindings at 30, but I may try moving them back 1/8 or so.The new 68 is a totally different ski and overall the best ski I've ridden in at least 5 years. (Four sets so far) If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller skidawg Posted August 19, 2010 Baller Posted August 19, 2010 Glad you made the trip over and took mine for a spin. What length and dft u running bruce
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted August 20, 2010 Baller_ Posted August 20, 2010 Yes, definitely worth the trip. Andy set it up for 6.860 and 0.78. Seems about right. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
swerveit Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 thanks for everyones help, @ Alvin, may take you up on that offer. the offside does feel tighter and i can drive the tip through to the white stuff and pick the load up later. im kinda floating around andys settings and am a little more consistent. however moving my binding forward did give me a problem on my onside. for some reason i was getting to much out of the buoy and having to throw the handle.. it was turning me in a circle... literally! as such i have learnt to keep still and patient, any attempt to over ride the skis natural ability to to turn offers you a swift response of "GET OF ME" proceeded by a water start and missing your pass. every mow and then i force myself to free ski, im a scrapper and as such have had to change my style of skiing. the free skiing shows me what the ski can really do. i just need to transfer that into the course!
