Baller_ RichardDoane Posted February 8, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted February 8, 2011 me and OF were dreaming of ZO upgrades to his Malibu LXi, Indmar 340 engine, throttle cable. Can a ZO upgrade be done, and if so, where do we get the parts ? block
Dennis Kelley at Malibu can help with this. Email me @ johnseiler@hotmail.com, and I will give you contact info.
Baller eyepeeler Posted February 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 8, 2011 I thought that only throttle by wire 2007 and newer Malibu could be modified for ZO.
Baller Agustafson Posted February 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 8, 2011 Can't remember for sure but I think for my 08 I would have had to buy a new ECM and with the price of the ZO It was way out of the budget that's why I went with the SG.. Thinking back on it should waited 1 year and bought a 09 with a ZO and proabably still would have gotten a killer deal on the boat!!!!
Baller swc5150 Posted February 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 8, 2011 Only drive by wire engines work with ZO.
Baller ForrestGump Posted February 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 8, 2011 You can retrofit the drivebywire and ecm's into some boats though. For example, the 2002-early 2006 Nautiques didn't have dbw but you can put ZO in them.
Baller Ed_Obermeier Posted February 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 8, 2011 Everything I've been told and read, the only way to do an '05 LXI (I also own one) is a complete total repower. Cheaper to sell yours and buy a different boat. How'd you get a 343 in your Malibu? To my knowledge the only engine options for the '05 were the stock 320 hp, the 340 Monsoon, maybe the Hammerhead. All Indmar engines. I'm guessing you have a Monsoon?Ed
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted February 8, 2011 Author Baller_ Share Posted February 8, 2011 I was incorrect before, it's a 340 Indmar. Repower isn''t in the budget, we were just hoping to swap ecm/wiring harness and add the throttle servo stuff and the ZO unit. Then sell the SG stuff to get a little $$$ back. With the large number of non-ZO boats out there, you'd think the engine builders would start putting together upgrade kits.
Baller Chef23 Posted February 9, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 9, 2011 I haven't seen anything on being able to convert a Malibu. It would be a cool option for those of us that don't have the cabbage for a boat upgrade.
block
Richard, it cannot be done. I ask Dennis and he said it has to be 2007 or newer. If you have any questions call me. Johnny Seiler
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted February 9, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted February 9, 2011 It can be done and it is really a no brainer! But the price is still rather steep! Not quite as much as a re-power but by the time the conversion is done it will run over $5K and you will then have a Indmar/PCM Hybrid.I Will be more than happy to sell ya the parts!!! Baller jjackkrash Posted February 13, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 13, 2011 Jody, or anyone else who knows, can you convert any post 2002 PCM Excaliber to Zero Off, even if its not in a Nautique? Or is there something special about the PCM Excal for Nautiques?
