Baller ral Posted February 22, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 22, 2011 Lake owners, what are you using to get the signal to the judge's area? Cable or radio transmitters?
Baller disland Posted February 23, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 23, 2011 Both, we use cable for close ones and wifi for the long ones
Baller jdarwin Posted February 23, 2011 Baller Share Posted February 23, 2011 Cable due to the number of homes in the vicinity. The more homes (phones, computers, microwave ovens) you have in the area, the more likely to experience interference with wireless. If you're rural, less problems. One nice thing about cable is that you can run power to the camera w/ cables. Wireless requires a power source at that location. JGray
We use a combination depending on what we can get away with and what all we have to have for the tournament. Cables are great if you can...less chance for failure. But we have had good experience with wireless also.  We have even set up a camera and wireless trasmitter off a car batter and AC/DC converter and transmitted back to a dock on the other side of the lake. A few notes though. We have had problems with some of the newer higher end transmitters/receivers.  They obviously could not stand the heat and humidity we have down here in Houston, but our older ones seem to do well. Baller ral Posted February 24, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted February 24, 2011 Thanks for the comments. We are putting cables, but was wondering what everybody else is doing. The Chilean federation is using now a servo radio controlled boat camera that transmitting in 2.4 GHz, which makes more difficult to go wireless for the rest of the cameras.
