We had our first tournament of the year this year and here is my little guy's trick pass. Right now this is pretty much all he has. It is worth 660 points and he ran it complete in 3/4 passes out of the two rounds.

We are working on some new things including reverse WB/WF and the reverse back wrap position to open up BB and WBB tricks.

Eric, thanks. We are working on the TB already. For the WO should he do it with a handle pass or a wrap?

Any other feedback on his technique would be great. I am doing the best I can from a coaching perspective but he has almost caught up with me.

I like to wrap for the WO. Wrap the rope with the arm tight to the back (the rope should go straight to the pylon from your hand which is wrapped far enough across your back to see the pylon too - show ski style with the hand on the other hip is an advanced trick). Practice the wrap on dry land by just turning into the wrap. A good prep trick is to wrap up behind the boat and do a surface O out of the wrap. Actually this is a difficult trick but it helps a lot (and helps later on TO). When ready to go for it, smoothly and progressively cut at the wake, cross the wake and unwrap as you come down to the center of the wake. If you go late you will get air without having to jump or pop - leverage does it all. If you go early, you will fall - at least the front foot needs to cross the wake before you unwrap. WO (the helicopter) is the trick that really defines you as a tricker!

Have fun!

Eric

I always liked to see kids that only have enough tricks for one pass to do a single ski pass and a two ski pass. They start to learn the line tricks that way also. Plus, they increase the trick score from 660 to 990 and score two full passes instead of doing the same pass twice. They learn the two ski wb, wf, rwb, rwf,

2 ski runs help with learning rope control. You have to have rope control to be able to do the 2 ski pass fast. I wouldn't work on 2ski WO or WBB. Too much risk of pulling groins etc. Plus 2 ski tricking is a blast!!
