Possibly important: Ski year 2010 was mostly an injury-impacted one for me. I'd say I wasn't 100% until mid-to-late July of 2010. For about a year prior to that, I didn't run -35 at all in tournaments. But if you check my scores after that, it was rare for me to score less than 97.5, with a best of 100. So I don't think it would be fair to use my 2010 scores as a basis here. (Too bad for me!!)

Than,

Again I want to thank you for killer sportsmansip. How do you feel about 98.6? I see that you can beat this but you have not done so in a few years.

98.6 seems right. I would generally consider 98.5 a "quite successful" tournament round, but I honestly feel this year I am gonna bust out a 103! I have only just started trying -38 in practice, but it feels different this year. Hope I'm right! Might not be in July, though -- I usually peak in early September for some reason.

Minor clarification: I did run 99 and 100 (in the same tournament) last September.

Thanks for the compliments, but it would be sort of dumb -- and completely defeating the point -- to compete in a handicapped format with a wrong handicap!

And I wouldn't steal a life vest from a store, so why would I steal one from you!?

You are not the only one who has had me double check handicaps. I can to tell you how much I value good sportsmanship (or sportwomanship)

When Eric and Caryl Kolb entered the Eagle Sports Slalom Challenge, I had to return Caryl’s $5 because she had an average less than 6 balls. I was afraid that she would CRUSH the field and that is not fun. The good news for the Kolb family is that Eric has legitimately crushed the field.

Eric had an undisputed average of 94 balls and then he busted out 1.5 at 39 for 103.5 balls! As the admin I hate to see the field get beat so bad but gosh, not only do I think Eric is getting a vest but I would also like to buy him a beer and congratulate him on his score.

WOW! Awesome Eric. I have my fingers crossed for a freak 103.5 myself. It feels doable right now. But now I *still* wouldn't win!

Again, congrats. I'm guessing running -38 was completely awesome. Hopefully I'll be commenting on that at some point this season...

Guys thanks for the comments. John, yes I would love for you to get me a drink, thanks. Running 38 was totally unexpected, I was happy with getting 35.

The real thrill of the day was actually my wife running her 1st full pass in a tournament the same day. She started skiing maybe 4 years ago, and has grown to love skiing the way we all do!!

Wow not one joke about stickers on my equipment. Is this place getting mature all of a sudden?

In all honesty, I hope for someone to beat me -- especially one of the folks with a lower base number. But if not, I would feel kinda cool to be able to tell people that I "won" the sticker on my ski.
