A2 for kinda big guy

I'm in the process of buying a new ski. Tried an X7(69): It was stable, turned well, but was a lot of work. Tried shortening the fin as stock numbers are long and deep and it helped some but still whipped my butt by the end of the set.

Trying a Strada: Using Rini's numbers now and I could really get used to this ski.

The only other ski I was considering is an A2 but the biggest it comes is 67.5". I'm 6'4" 220 skiing at 34, 22-35 and 55 years old. Any other big somewhat old guys riding it at 34 ?

I am 6'4" 225 lbs, on a 66" Nano Mid. Other considerations are the new 68" D-3 Fusion or the 68" Sans Rival.

Ed you were on WideRide before mid, how would you compare?

The Wide was great with PP. I was able to pull the boat down and set some PB's I'll never see again with ZO. The Mid is much better with ZO, and the Nano Mid, when you get it tuned right, is unreal. Much more sensitive than the Reg. Mid. and not as forgiving, but a higher performance ski.

I am about 10 pounds heavier than you and about the same ability and I am on a 68.75" A1. I would be concerned the 67.5" A2 would be a little small. If the S2 is coming in a 68" that might work the S1 was supposed to ride higher than the A1 and if it continues with the S2 that might be a good fit.

I am also trying out a 69.5" Strada. With Chris Rossi's settings from the Radar website, the ski came alive. Really didn't have to work hard. Ski turns very well, ride outs to the buoy line wide and early and sets a good angle across the wakes. Have tried all the skis and the Strada has really stood out in my mind. Just my two cents.

Did you try the X7 with no wing or with very little wing. I experienced alot of the issues you are describing but once I adjusted the wing to 6 degrees (right side up) the ski is just as fast as my RCX was side to side

I tried the S1 last year and didn't like it much although I don't remember why. I tried the A1 also but it was too much work. I ran the wing on the X7 at 8 upside down so maybe trying it right side up with slightly less angle would have made it an easier ride but I've given it back to the local shop. I rode the Strada again this morning and think I will keep it. It's an easy ride that's fast, turns well and is forgiving of my many transgressions. I haven't liked anything this much right out of the box since my '07 RC.

Now onto new boots. Currently in D3 Leverages which I've been riding for years but thinking on going with something a little stiffer laterally short of hard shells. Thinking Stradas or maybe D3 T-Factors. I have not seen anyone on here talking about the T-Factors, is anyone using them ?
