Boat cover with no snaps?

I just got a new cover for my 2005 Nautique 196 from the dealer. It doesn't have any snaps, but instead some fabric loops that look like you're supposed to tie a rope to them.

Is that an on-the-trailer-only cover, intended for use with tie-down straps? I'm hoping so and they just sent me the wrong one, because I can't understand how I would use this -- at least not without installing my own snaps all over the place. And that doesn't seem right after paying $700 for the darn thing!

Can anyone impart me with some clue? Google search seems to have been unproductive.

(I also sent email to the dealer, but figured I'd try to educate myself in parallel.)

Snaps? Are you talking about a bow or cockpit cover? Never seen a full cover with snaps. My guess is if it comes loose while windy or driving it would beat the gelcoat to pieces! All the trailering covers I've ever seen have tie loops. The mooring covers have been elastic around the edges.

Huh! I've owned some sort of Nautique for 13 years now and never seen a "mooring cover" (the only kind I knew existed!) without snaps.

This things is a total bear to put on, although I am praying I'll get better at it. More likely I'll just add a few snaps!

Hey Than, its Pat. I had snaps with my 99 Nautique, but not with my 09. I proceeded to install them myself. The cover that came with the boat was lousy and replaced it with a cover from skiboatcovers.com. And then put snaps on that one. No questions snaps are the way to go. Let me know if can help you out with the install.

In 2007, it was about $675 plus $50 for the Jockey Red (the reds are just more expensive) plus about $25 to ship. So roughly $735 or so. I towed through a virtual monsoon with it coming home this past Fourth of July weekend and not only did the cover not move noticeably, it and the boat were boat dry when we got home (we had about 20 minutes of no rain during the last part of the drive).

I have a similar cover as East Texas Skier for my Malibu. Made by Evolution Cover. About $750 last year. Awesome and so fast and easy. Cinches strap below the rub rail. Check out then call Cory for great service.
