Baller skinut Posted July 27, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 27, 2011 i am trying find a spot for a portable course. My ideal location seems a bit tight. I have driven the spot where I want it. I know what the time is to drive through the actual course but I don't know how much time I need to allow for in order to allow for set up and 55 meter gates. So at 34 mph i need to estimate x time + 16.95 secnds for setup and 55's. Anyone know what x is?
Baller animal Posted July 27, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 27, 2011 It may depend on a number of things. How quick is your boat to speed? Do you have straight in approaches or do, (can you), turn as you enter the course. You may want to try finding the site on Google Earth. It has a measuring tool that is reasonably accurate. If you can get about 1800 to 2000 feet, I would think you could easily make it work.
Baller east tx skier Posted July 27, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 27, 2011 When we did our course at my father in laws place, 1,800 ft was very tight even without 55M buoys. 34 starting in a turn going the opposite way and turning around was doable though. Baller_ Wish Posted July 27, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted July 27, 2011 animal is correct. We are getting away with 1750 only because our turns are/can be very wide and we start by picking up the skier as we take off towards the shore. The boats doing 27+mph when it straightens out and lines up with the course. The boat is still accelerating and at 34mph there is still plenty of room and time to pull out. Even those that pull out early. Both ends are the same and we turn the correct way. Not ideal but I've had many Pro skiers along with other friends ski this course with no complaints. Your boat's ability to accelerate does matters.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted July 27, 2011 Baller Share Posted July 27, 2011 Hi Guy,s & Gals 1800 feet will work fine if you use a 8 bouy course ( Staggered ) just a bit of a pain when skiing 28 off the bouy is right where you want to turn in.
