I have been lurking for a while now and enjoy the info on the site. I thought I could find some ideas here. I am a non course skier and over the last few years I have drastically improved my skiing, I am at the point now that I would like to try my hand at the course just to see how good I thought I was. I live in Sacramento around so many private lakes it drives me nuts. How do I get an opportunity to ski at a lake without joining with a yearly membership? It seems that the ski community is tuff to get into without knowing people. I am sure joining this site is a good start. Thanks for you suggestions

You need to get together with the skier known as "Dirt". He knows everyone in Sac and will point you in the right direction.

One warning - do not loan him a ski. You will never see it again.

RioDP,

I live in Sac and ski at Pleasant Oak just north of downtown. If you want to get in touch with me, you are welcome to come out and try the course with us. PM and we can figure out a time if you want to try it.

Dirt is also a good guy to get in touch with. He always has a new ski to try. :)

Kevin

RioDP, you can come out and try the course with us. Beware, it is addicting. The reason it is difficult to get rides without being a member at one of the lakes or clubs is they have guest rules that allow you to come out for a fee (ex. $30) plus gas/boat costs ($12-$15) per ride. Others allow a guest a couple times per month before they have to join ($1500-$2500 per year). Get in touch with me or Kevin or both and we can fill you in on each lake.

Just saw this thread. RioDP just so you have as many options as possible, you are also welcome to come take a set with us at Bell Acqua Lake 1. I've got some guest passes, so you'd only need to pay the per set gas fee of $11 or $15 depending on which of our Nautiques you ski behind. We also have a great coach, Mike Kusiak, that you can arrange lessons with if you are interested.

Jim
