Slalomhound
Me and my ski buddy just bought D3 X7 skis. His is 68" and mine is 67". Both of us love them at 22 and 28 off but both skis do not finish the turn clean out of the onside starting at 32 off. We are both left forward. Several settings have been used but we can't find a good one that cleans up anything on the onside when skiing 32 off and shorter. The ski seems to come off the apex fine but right at the finish when you are reaching for the handle it overturns and results in a hard hit from the boat. The only body position that comes close to cleaning this up is swinging the hips inward over the ball to get a good edge and using a big counter rotation but rarely is the handle connection clean and smooth as needed. Offsides are less of an issue. Here is where I have been on settings with my 67" with Goode double powershells: 67", boots 30", boot spacing 12.25", Rear boot twist 1/4"clockwise, front boot straight. Wing at 7 /screws up,34MPH 6.940 2.515 .785 needle .767 slot .804 slot (some better going forward) 6.902 6.905 2.497 2.494 .764 .763 slot If we can just clean up the overturning at the finish I think we will go into 38 off. Help anyone??
Slalomhound
Just got off the phone with Paul at D3 and we think the ski tip is too low and needs to go up so I'll be trying moving the boot plate back. I have been measuring to the back of the front shell but since there is a fat liner inside my heel may be too far forward at the 30" shell dimension. Baller Jim Neely Posted August 18, 2011 Baller Share Posted August 18, 2011 Sounds like too much fin surface area
Slalomhound
I agree so the second set of numbers was where I pulled the fin way up which was some better but I am hesitant to pull the fin up anymore since I am a long way from stock and the ski is getting fast like my Z7 and getting a little loose . Baller skibug Posted August 18, 2011 Baller Share Posted August 18, 2011 Keep taking depth out until the ski feels like it is about to blow the tail out on your shortest line length; then deepen it by 0.005"
