Baller Not_The_Pug Posted September 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2011 Anyone have some good numbers for a 67.5 S2? Thanks, Kevin
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted September 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2011 I got the following numbers from Dave W. at HO for my 67.5.....6.890 tips...2.490....and .740 Flat 30" These worked pretty well, except that I had a tendency to either overturn or underturn. I have since switched to a thinner fin that I run shorter and deeper, with two ventrals, and have improved the ski considerably. Tweaking the angle on the rear ventral right now to increase cross-course speed while retaining excellent turning capability....Once I optimize that I will try three ventrals, since that worked well on my Nano. The ski currently out turns my Nano with just the two ventrals.
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted September 8, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted September 8, 2011 What size ventrals are you running, small front, large in place of normal wing? Thanks, Kevin
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted September 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2011 Small Mini Ventral Front with the Large Ventral in place of the standard wing Rear. When I had this setup on the Nano, it made the ski faster, but it took away from it's turning capability. The same thing for the Sans Rival SR-2. With both those skis I ended up with a Mini Front Ventral and a stock wing at 8 degrees. So far the S-2 has retained it's excellent turning capability. I started with the rear ventral at 9 degrees, then 8, and next set tomorrow will be 7. Cross course speed gets faster as you reduce the rear wing angle. Along with a lot less load. The biggest problem is over skiing with either to much load or loading to long. However, that is similar to the Nano and the SR-2. The difference and added benifit of the S-2 is it is a very forgiving ski. It is also very, very, easy to ski, and anyone could use it. Hope this helps, ED
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted September 9, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2011 Just finished a set with the rear Ventral at 7 degrees. This appears to be optimum. With the rear Ventral at 8 & 9 degrees, it was easy to overturn the ski. Now at 7 degrees, cross course speed increased and turn sensitivety decreased. Feels balanced. Plan to leave it there for the next week before trying the triple Ventrals. Appreciate any feedback from others on the S-2..........ED
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted September 9, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted September 9, 2011 Ed, I will be riding the S2 all weekend, I will let you know where I end up Monday. May have to order some ventral's. Unless someone has some they want to sell for a good deal? :) Kevin
