Baller Stevie Boy Posted September 10, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2011 What happened to the Laser Guided Boat path idea, is it dead and buried or still in development ?
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted September 10, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2011 I heard two months a go that Andy M. was working with a company on that. Cost seems to be the major stumbling block. No details or time frame. They are keeping it pretty quiet.
Baller jayski Posted September 10, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2011 was in a boat that had a GPS based path system, a take off form the ag industry, worked pretty slick, kind of freaky no having someone holding the steering wheel when theres a skier back there... Baller Roger Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 This past weekend I attended 2 tournaments at Palm Bay (FL). One of my judging duties was to monitor the in-boat camera video and boat path video. I watched the boat path for two world class drivers (Gordon West and John Shealy). The term Laser Guided could be used with either of these drivers. The difference between them and a Laser system (IMO) is that they make it feel easy to the skier while maintaining a great boat path. The skier neither runs out of line because the driver countered too soon or turns in to slack because the driver countered too late. This part of driving is the part that is more Art than skill and I just don't think GPS or Laser will get you to this level. I know as a skier, these are the drivers I want in the boat and as a driver, this is the driving I aspire to. Maybe I'll be proved wrong someday, but I've seen a number of straight boat paths where the skiers hated the pull (drivers not to be named). Baller_ Wish Posted September 14, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2011 Oh great ....... another expensive item to buy to keep up with tournament simulation. Cable skiing is looking more attractive.
Baller_ The_MS Posted September 14, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2011 Better yet, King Andy (same guy that kept the perfect pass setting off of ZO) has the final say.
Baller Hugh Nichols Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 Better yet, King Andy (same guy that kept the perfect pass setting off of ZO) has the final say. MS, could you expand on this statement please....
Baller_ The_MS Posted September 14, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted September 14, 2011 I was told by skiers that took place in the A/B/C settings testing that there was a setting that all the skiers loved and was no different then PP. AM did not like it and it never made the cut. These skiers were on the level with me and I have no reason to doubt them.
Baller Dirt Posted September 14, 2011 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2011 That is probably the D setting. I was told it is an RPM overlay. If you pull really hard it wont let it add more than a predetermined max rpm. Correct me if I am wrong.
