Baller ral Posted October 12, 2011 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 So we will be installing them in our lake. Just the 6 turn buoys, as we (well, I...) decided that there is less risk on the gates and that a skier should get used to charge at full speed and go over a regular right hand gate buoy. Any tips/advice, etc regarding installation, maintenance, etc?
Baller jdarwin Posted October 12, 2011 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 @ral - I would not leave them in during the off-season. Fish or other aquatic life forms like to chew on them. Also, once they fade, you can remove them and flip them inside-out. Or you can simply paint them. They have worked very well for me.
Baller ral Posted October 12, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 @OB, cut the crap. Roster yourself for the Santiago flight and get your ass down here as often as you can. January will be brilliant, will have Seth Stisher for a month, World University Champ and Big Dawg! Wouldn't it make more sense to use a short hose from the boat to put air inside instead of going under the buoy?
Baller thompjs Posted October 12, 2011 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 RAL, Hopefully you can get Seth skiing a bit better.
kfennell
Wow because of this I looked up flights to SCL, man they are expensive! On the upside they are cheap with points, only 60k pp round trip in january :p only 40k off season!

Baller Hugh Nichols Posted October 12, 2011 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 RAL, its looks like you would get 2 for the price of one, looks like thompjs wants a "buddy pass". BTW, my head is shaved, not bald. ;-)

Baller Hugh Nichols Posted October 12, 2011 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 Yea, have to figure out a way to build speed. I look down turning the buoy so the flat spot on top of my head will help slow me down.

Baller_ DW Posted October 12, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted October 12, 2011 Actually a round sphere is not a good aerodynamic shape! Needs to have a taper at the back or use hair on the backside to properly shed the vortecies. . . Horton may be on to something!!!
Baller ral Posted October 12, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted October 12, 2011 The thread is most interesting. I see now why I do not seem to get enough speed. Need to get rid of that hair...
