Keep in mind that balancing the boat does not always balance the wake and again this pertains to all boats. I have seen boats run down the slalom course leaned over a bit but the wake and spray pattern was balanced. Bottom line for good slalom the boat wakes need to be balanced. Utilizing weight to counter balance crew for desired effect is pretty much the norm. We utilize a 75 pound elevator weight to move around the boat. most of the time it is under the passenger seat all the way over to the port gunnel as we ski allot without a passenger, With me driving it does not balance me completely out but helps . When their are three of us the weight then gets moved in front of the pylon or where it needs to go to balance the wake and spray. Tricks is another story we then get as many big girls from the ----Sorry that's for wakeb0arding.

The idea of sticking weight in the bow came about a number of years ago to help a boat that was perceived to ride a little to bow high and again perceived to not track well. This practice is still in effect with a lot of drivers and promo owners. The down side is that it can cause wake issues at longer line lengths with some boats.

All boats will have subtle differences from boat to boat. One may not need any weight to achieve the effect wanted and another out of the same mold may need weight distributed somewhere to achieve the same effect. Normally the weight needed is between 25-75 pounds to provide the effect desired.
