HO CDX Fin Box Upgrade

My daughter's boyfriend bought a new CDX last year. The "adjustable" fin box can only be moved forward and back, no adjustments to the fin.

Is there a replacement fully adjustable fin system for this?

The standard fin is set really deep, like over 2.6" and I am thinking this is not so good of a setup. I can shim under the top of the fin box, but my daughter's CDX Wade Cox Addition has a fully adjustable fin on it, so we assumed (I know) when we saw that the CDX had an "adjustable" fin on it, that it was like the old CDX.

 

I would like to set him up with a fin closer to 2.500 and neutral bias on length. His tip pops up a lot and I want to make sure he isn't behind the 8-ball with too much fin depth.

If you call any good HO dealer they can get you one. A Radar box will fit a modern HO. I do not think any other brands will fit.

The cheapest way to fix it is with washers under the box to take out depth.

Remove the fin and take a good look at the holes where the mounting bolts pass through. You can drill or file them larger towards the belly of the fin to allow it to move further 'into' the ski (fin box). You may have a mismatch of fins with small diameter holes/slots and could just swap out fins as well. Simple 30 minute drill/file job... Probably take anyone actually adept with tools about 10 minutes or less.
