Anyone have any experience with fixing a rooster tail at 15 off? It's probably about a foot and a half tall at least and is at its worst at 15 off. Could it just be a weight distribution issue? Prop issue? Or is it just something that this boat does and there's nothing I can do to fix it? It flattens out nicely when I turn but I don't know what to do to fix it when I go straight. The boat is a 97 MB Sports Boss 200LS.

Thanks

I think you may be stuck with that rooster tail. I have skied a fair amount behind one of those. 'Significant' rooster tail/hard wakes, thru 22 off. Very easy to get it chine locked in a tight turn with skier, too... Always, always, have an observer or at least weight to counterbalance the driver... That said- props, weight distribution, and hull sanding can make a big difference in most boats' wakes. There are experts at all of those out there. (Eric Lee's (bubbler?) solution may work too.) I would experiment with adding some weight on center line, forward of the line of the dash if you can. If I had to guess, about 40#, to start, maybe even more.

Reviews from WS mag 1997 and 98 refers to the wakes as hard at 34 and 36. " it can kick the ski a bit ". No mention of what line length has the hard wakes so thinking its all lengths. Not sure you can get rid of that. Rooster tail maybe. Wake plate can move it around. Did on my Supra. Also, big mention of spray starting at 28 off. The MB 190 scores much higher for slalom.

WE have and have had since 86 a 82 American Skier Volante. This boat had a rather rough bump at 22 off from git go. When the four blades started appearing in the mid 90's I put a 4 blade Oj on the boat and it helped. probably not because the rooster got smaller but moved it enough to make the crossing a little nicer.

I'd play with a few propellers: the less aft rake on the prop blades the more bow lift and more of a rooster tail, a prop with more aft rake on the blades will give less of a rooster tail but less bow lift which may also be detrimental. Jody's suggestion of another prop is a good one but you may have to try a few to get the right combination.
