Baller Live2ski Posted October 2, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2012 Hi, my shiny new S3 arrives tomorrow. its a 67.5 and i would really like to know what the stock settings are so that I at least start in the right place. I usually just jump on and go, but realise recently that fin settings are quite crucial and I don't want to get the wrong impression. ive looked at all the S2 threads and while theres is a lot of mention about stock settings the actual figures dont seem to be there. The link on the HO web site also seems to missing. i would really appreciate your help. (will be mostly skiing at 34 & 28/32 off) as an aside - anyone know why I cant sign in to BOS with my iPad? (had to boot up the PC for this.) .....and yes CAM you can have a go as well - just dont scratch it until I have.
Baller Chef23 Posted October 2, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2012 I don't think there is an S3 it is still the S2. There used to be settings on the S2 website but they seem to be gone. If you search for Horton's S2 review I am pretty sure he posted S2 settings in there and he was on a 67.5. Regarding the iPad I can't seem to get on from mine either. ToddF
There seems to be a big difference between the stock settings of the S and the A skis is there a reason? What would happen if you flipped settings?
Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted October 2, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 2, 2012 They are very different skis, so different setting are not unusual.
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted October 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 3, 2012 Hey Chuck, Congrats on the new S2....My best settings have been 6.750 Jaws 6.820 Tips 2.50 and DFT @ .735 Wing 6 degrees +80 F and 8 degrees -80 F, 9 degrees in the 60's F. Let us know if you feel any difference from the older S2 to the new one.
bogboy
2012 & 2013 are both s2's, I think. I was upgraded from a new 2012 s2 to a new 2013 s2 do to a factory insert failure. Nice! I asked the dealer if there was any changes what so ever, and he told me a slight more tail rocker in the 2013, but a local dealer doesn't think this is so. The 2013 seems to ski the same as the 2012 demo that I tried a couple weeks ago, but i probably couldn't tell anyway. Anybody input on this? Baller Garn Posted October 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 3, 2012 @Horton, when you measured your length on the S2, how did you do yours? Did you do it the way Scot was talking about in his thread?

Baller Garn Posted October 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 4, 2012 @Horton But when you do it with the tips, do you do it like Scot Chipman said where "letting the tips of the caliper sit down inside the fin slot and up against the far side. " Or are the tips laid across the the bottom of the ski? I want to try to get my S2 set up exactly like yours was. Garn
Baller Live2ski Posted October 4, 2012 Author Baller Share Posted October 4, 2012 its arrived and "jump and go" definitely not going to work on this S2 - unless a reverse fin is part of its magic? anyway in the process of turning the fin block round i can see the core of the ski very clearly through the fin slot. checked the surface and its kind of powdery like a bit of balsa wood, but definitely not sealed - is this right? i thought that it was important to protect the core and bad things would happen if it got wet? slightly nervous about taking this stick to the water! Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted October 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 4, 2012 No worries, the core is a machined PVC material and water will not harm it. I heard HO was going to make some minor changes to the 2013 S-2, I'm guessing the magic fin is not part of their plan.
