Baller ForrestGump Posted February 4, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 4, 2013 And it was ugly. Hard to believe I ever ran 35 last year when I managed to fall pulling out for the gates on Friday afternoon. I thought @cypressskier was going to fall out of the boat he was laughing so hard. Dropped my shoulder and the ski bit. I was laughing so hard as I was somersaulting across the top of the water that I almost drowned even though I wound up sitting in the mud in about 6 inch deep water at the shores edge. Baller Texas6 Posted February 4, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 4, 2013 @ShaneH, - Beautiful weekend in Houston and all the boats were out both Saturday and Sunday. Totally get it on the rusty pull out. Failed a deep water start a few weeks ago. I'm usually good for about one of those a season for some reason or another. Very painful on the ego. You'll be back through 35 in no time
Baller JohnCox Posted February 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 5, 2013 I skied last weekend....almost fell coming around the island. Got me so rattled, I fired the handle at 1 on my opening pass.....Things got much better over the next few days, but not how I like to start a weekend of skiing. Embarrassing. Baller Razorskier1 Posted February 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 5, 2013 First time of the year it is always hard to believe that last season you shortened the line!
Baller rayn Posted February 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 5, 2013 How many of you start the season right back in the course vs. free skiing and pull drills. I am sure it also might depend on the length of your layoff. We always start with free skiing and pull drills. Our layoff in New England is a long 5 months. Baller JohnCox Posted February 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 5, 2013 Last season, I started with a bunch of free skiing, but mainly because it was too cold to dive and raise our course....but I do think it helped. At least didn't hurt. This year, jumped straight to course. May do some free skiing too, though.
Baller Chef23 Posted February 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 5, 2013 Our course usually isn't up when we start skiing otherwise I am not sure I would free ski. I don't really do pull drills when I free ski I usually just make turns and pull. @rayn you need to free ski because you forget how to ski during the winter. I am surprised you can get out of the water in the spring.
sixball
Dammer.... I was walking the lake today something like 12" of ice! We need to be in the water before March 17 to beat last year. Not likely but never give up hope.
