Tires for Backwash

I use tires along the shore line about half covered under water on one side for backwash control. It works good but looks ugly and I have to move them as the water gets lower through the summer.

I saw the setup the cable lake in Orlando has. The use floating tires to separate the cable course from the wakeboard area.

Does this work well?

Was at Cyprus Gardens/Lego Land water ski show just last week..lake side in a boat. Basically you drive your boat (a runabout) up on the tires to watch. Tire island better then a football field or two long and about 10-15 feet deep of tires standing up on end and tied together in a brick patten. While it knocks the waves down by no means does it eliminate them. They float up and down with the waves and that motions is passed through them and there are waves on the other side. Just lower and the peak to trough is spread out further. Looks like a wave after it's gone across a lake. The number of tires needed to do this at that level is staggering. Props to the ski team. Not only can they run the show in those wave and a very small space (and it's better then last yr) they do it in foam consumes to look like Lego guys. Giant heads and all.

Highly recommend cat tail plants or some aquatic plant of some kind to steady the shore.

The idea i was kicking around where panels that you would interlock to form a shore line.

They would have a shallow rise then a trough.

Part of this idea was based off the concept of how you could harness the wave energy to do something, like route the return through a solar collector to heat the lake during early and late season.

Or through a filter/aquaponic garden bed to reduce the nutrient in the water to reduce algae and weed growth.
