I just became a grandpa. I was actually feeling pretty blue about becoming a grandpa because after all, it's kind of the last milestone in life. "Grandpa" means ooooold and almost done. Then I met this beautiful little baby girl and fell so head over heels in love with her that all that nonsense went straight out the window. Between her and skiing, now I HAVE to stay young. She doesn't know it yet, but the skiing community just grew by one. How young can I get her started?

@madd11 it would be ok if your granddaughter runs more bouys than you that just means that you are old. You are too young to let Baiely beat you! you need to get busy. Way to go Bailey

@ Skijay Congrats welcome to the club!!

@ Skiep Kieth can we make it 35 off

Congrats! We had our first child in his life vest at about 4 days old, in the boat at 3 weeks old, on the zip sled (with dad in tow) at 20 months old, and on trainer skies at 3.5 years old. He is 7, and loves the kneeboard and is asking about slalom.

Our second child was on the boat even earlier (amazingly), rode the zip sled with dad at 18 months, and loves the boat, but has been a little more delayed in interested compared to our first (at 4, he now wants to zip sled).

As Grampa, you just provide the opportunity, the equipment, and knowledge. They will tell you when they are ready. However it goes, it will be as much fun as you have ever had on the water, I'd bet.

Not a grandpa yet but have a 22 year old daughter so could be close to it. My three daughters were all skiing in trainer skis on the boom by 3 and they all slalomed by 7. My oldest was slaloming at age 6 and running the small course by 8. I ahd a lot more free time then so she skied at least twice a week. the others did not get that amount of time in the water so they were a bit behind but they all ski the course now. Luckily they cannot go as deep as I can but while they are improving I seem to be de-improving (I know not a word but i liked it) so it si going to be any year now.

Congrats. I have two little girls 6 and 3. Started my now six year old at 3 and my now 3 year old at 2. My three year old has been practicing her form on our freezer handle in the kitchen since ahe could stand. It actually helped as she popped up first tine on the boom and skied all the way down the lake. You can push them but they have to like it. My oldest is fearless and asked to try barefooting at 4 and got up on a slalom at 5. My 3 year old is not as gong ho yet so ill just assess it as we go. It is incredible how fast they can progress at that age if they like it. Have fun. Nothing better.

@SkiJay I became a grandpa 2 years ago and although I didn't know what to expect it has been one of the best things ever to happen to me, I have got a ski ready for her but if she is not interested I won't care.

@horton @zman, Trying not to comment and it doesn't appear @TFIN is coming in to help me here either. As a witness he thought it was funny when she beat me too. When it rains it pours man. Just a point. Both of you should remember that paybacks are a Bit%&$ too. My slump won't last that long.
