Baller disland Posted March 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 27, 2013 I use a velcro strap on my legs to keep water from going up the wet suit leg and either rolling it up or filling with water. I use an Aquasphere suit. The problem is the velcro strap makes my binder not fit the same as it does without it. If I try to put the strap above the binder it either is not effective because its too loose or squeezes my calf and restricts movement or causes a cramp. Has anyone come up with a creative solution to this problem.
Baller disland Posted March 27, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted March 27, 2013 I am considering one solution which involves moving to Florida and retiring the wet suit
Baller BraceMaker Posted March 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 27, 2013 Get a suit that has 3/4" length legs? A jump suit perhaps?
Baller Marco Posted March 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 27, 2013 I always go straight from a drysuit to a shorty. I don't get much benifit from protecting from my knees and elbows down, so I bypass the wetsuit altogether.
Baller AggieSkier Posted March 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 28, 2013 I used neoprene spray leggings to keep water from shooting up the legs of my drysuit. Pull legging up over suit cuff but bottom of legging at ankle below binding top
Baller klindy Posted March 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 28, 2013 You're a jumper @disland surely you have a roll of duct tape around somewhere.
ToddF
I keep a roll of duct tape in the boat stays on and comes off without drama, meaning it hasn't stuck or ripped the suit.
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted March 28, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted March 28, 2013 @disland - I cut off the lower leg portion of my full suit off just below the knee, keeps the water from shooting up my back leg, and toughens up the rear calf in the beginning of the season
Baller ral Posted March 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 28, 2013 A 1/2 inch section of bike inner tube in back foot, Reflex binding in front so no issue there.
Baller Deanoski Posted March 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 28, 2013 Dito on Richard comment I make my suit a 3/4 cut in off the leg and it does toughen up the rear spray leg so u ready for no suit.
Baller waterskicorey Posted March 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 28, 2013 I use shrink wrap (used for wrapping packages) as it does not stick to your suit or your leg, you can buy it by the roll at Walmart
Baller disland Posted March 29, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted March 29, 2013 @waterskicorey cool idea. I knew the baller community would have a plethora of creative ideas
Baller A_B Posted March 29, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 29, 2013 Well, if you stop the water going up your leg, you will also stop any water going down your leg. Should make for a warm wetsuit.....

Baller waterskigirl Posted October 28, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 28, 2014 It is not easy to get a full wetsuit to fit perfect everywhere not matter what brand :\ Sometimes to get the chest right the legs might be a little loose, I get tons of questions on how to stop water from blowing up the leg of their full wetsuits, so I looked back on the forum and found this old thread with lots of suggestions. But, the best I have seen to avoid damaging the suit that I was going to post I have seen Nicky Parsons do for years is "saran wrap" and go figure @waterskicorey had posted it back in 2013(yeah Corey). I think at this time of the year it is worth revisiting these ideas...Many of you may have seen Nick wearing his drysuit with the wrap around the legs at the the Calgary Pro Shootout a few years ago! I have attached another picture of what we are all talking about, lots of places to get it this came from UHaul for $6 will last forever, small investment to keep your suit from stretching out and possibly ripping. Hope that helps!
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted October 28, 2014 Baller_ Share Posted October 28, 2014 I use one of those rubber wrist bracelets - really just a heavy duty rubber band, but the size is perfect. Also with the aquasphere suit. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
