Mapple Skis 3 Day Weekend Event

I had the fortune of participating in the first 3 Day Event at Mapple Skis this past weekend, and let me just say that it was one of the best weekends of skiing I have ever had the pleasure of being part of. I am hesitant to give too much away, because I selfishly want to make sure I get to participate next year! But...a little about what it was:

9 skiers (there were 10, but one could not make it) from all over North America arrived at Mapple Skis Friday morning. Katie showed up with bagels and coffee. There were isolated showers just passing through, but the weather worked well enough for everyone to get in all the skiing they wanted. Mid day, the grill was fired up, and we ate all we needed. Skied the rest of the afternoon, and dispersed to crash to re-convene the next day.

That was the outline of each day....but, hey, you can ski and eat anywhere, right? Right. This weekend was about skiing, but different. I thought of it as a bit of a "slalom fantasy camp" before I got there, and that's probably not a bad simple description. The atmosphere was relaxed, but not lazy. When someone finished skiing, another was basically ready to go. No pressure on the skier to stop at 6 passes (I think Lisa took a dozen per set..:) ). For the 9 people skiing, during the weekend, there were at least 9 people there from Team Mapple - coaching, driving, cooking, entertaining (there was PLENTY of entertainment). Ski demos, ski set up and adjustment (even if it was the ski you brought with you), binding tests. And I made lots of new friends. Friends that I hope and plan to see again...and ski with again.

@Mapple was awesome. If you EVER have a chance to ski with Andy, do it.

Many thanks to Andy, Deena, Chris Parrish, Aidan Willers, Nicole Arthur, Katie Eggert, Marion Mathieu, Scott Ellis, and Dave Macchi.

There might be a video coming out soon....involving CP. ;)

There is a video somewhere of his Dad hitting him with paintballs while he's riding shotgun in the family Malibu. Can't remember for certain, but pretty sure CP was wearing a face mask, taking paint balls to the COM and running 32 off at the same time
