What do you do with old ski equipment?

After several years of skiing and kids who are starting to outgrow their original equipment, I've a growing stock pile in my basement of gently used equipment.

About the only thing I trash are my gloves, but do have a an old O'Neill Gooru vest that I think I would have a hard time giving away.

I just gave two old 9100s (with Wileys on one of them) to my cousin. They were too high of an AMP for me, anyway, and fit him better. I had an old 65 inch Kidder FX70 that I included for his girlfriend, who is current slaloming on a combo ski. It has the toe plate and can use one of the Wileys for a front boot.

I also gave an O'Brien Siege to my nephews for their first family boat. And, I included my old 1980 EP Super 2 to the nephews, since it had a toe plate instead of double high wraps

I have a 9600 and 9300 that I might keep for a bit to have my daughter try to slalom. If they become unused and/or she has no interest, I will probably donate those to one of the collegiate teams around here.

My active skis are a 9500 and a 9960. I'll probably be skiing these for a while longer. I tend to keep equipment a long time. Probably too long. The boat is fairly new, though - 2009. Truck is old - 1996. Vests, ropes, wetsuits, heater tops, drysuits, etc. I will use until they are worthless/unsafe and throw them away.

The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.

I was considering starting a ski equipment library for our ski club. We are on a private access lake and maybe more people would ski/board instead of tubing all the time if equipment we available to try. Perhaps donations from those who borrow equipment can help support purchase of bouys, USA Waterski memberships etc.

I keep my old ropes/vest for our ski club use. My skis (those that didn't break) are on my wall in my man cave. May consider selling my current ski(looking to upgrade sooner than usual). Throw out the rest (gloves etc.)

I agree with @Jody_Seal - keep some forever, ski it again, give it to someone who needs it, Wear it out, I do sell all my skis on ski it again before they get completely obsolete. At the cost of skis these days you just have to recover some of the cost.

I voted give it to someone who needs it but in actuality, I keep it at my house so I can let friends use them who are looking to get into the sport. Have a 66" and 67" ski with user friendly boots at my place and encourage friends to use it anytime they like.

I don't have any old gear minus a scratched and gouged ASX, still using my old Venoms on a D3 I got from a buddy who steered me to BOS. Following his lead I imagine as the kids out grow future purchases I will send it down the line and feed someone else's addiction.

Right now all I have is a great collection of toddler and infant life jackets.

Let buddies who only go to lakes once a year use them for their kids, or if someone forgets their kids life jacket I have plenty to loan out.

Should send the ASX down the road but I bought it while still in school with my brother so technically even though he doesn't ski it is still his ski as well.

I can't afford a new ski so I ski the current one until it isn't safe to ski anymore then buy a new-used ski from one of you on ski-it-again...THANK YOU.

However, I don't trash my ski when it isn't safe anymore. They become wall hangers, or chairs, or something semi useful. I can't trash a ski if it has been good to me.
