Late April wetsuits/dry suits, middle of june heater tops or even skining it! bottom drops out around the first couple of weeks in Oct.. Dont get me wrong their can be some surprises during the summer but it is a very nice place to live.... My problem up their was I could not eat Nice! The winter brings big dumps of snow and super easy access to Big Mountain Ski Resort (recently renamed Whitefish Resort by some Texans - who would do that?!). Kalispell is 2,000 feet lower than Bozeman so it has a milder climate. I know people (Scotty's dad) who have waterskied every month of the year up there. It's only a couple of hours from Spokane and an easy day of driving to Seattle or Portland. There are also tons of natural lakes everywhere you look. All the permits and water rights have been secured. Watching this development unfurl from the beginning has been a real eye opener. First you buy the land for a million or two, then you beg & plead your case to the city and county for permission to build your lakes and hope they don't put the kibosh on your paltry million dollar investment. I'd bet the developer has about as much invested in lawyers as he does land! It's a gorgeous site though and literally a short bike ride to shopping, restaurants and theaters. The public lakes usually thaw in march by june the water is in the 60's now its in the 70's air is usually in the 80's or 90's during mid june to mid september. i have skied every month of the year as flathead lake never freezes but now i usually hang up the waterski for my snowboard and chase powder all winter or both in the same day in march when the sun comes out.
