Baller jcamp Posted October 7, 2013 Baller Posted October 7, 2013 I'm looking at a boat that has a carbed Merc 350. It has no speed control in it, but if I buy it I'd put Stargazer in it and would eventually like to put in a ZBox too. Can carbed boats use Stargazer and/or ZBox? I've been told they are not compatible.
Baller Craig Posted October 7, 2013 Baller Posted October 7, 2013 I have skied behind a 93 PS 190 that has a carburetor and has the ZBox. I am not a PP expert, but I don't think the mechanical throttle version of PP cares if the engine has a carburetor or is fuel injected.
Baller colo_skier Posted October 7, 2013 Baller Posted October 7, 2013 From what I have read on BOS the person that said they are not compatible is miss-informed. Maybe they are thinking of Zero-off instead of Z-box. I have installed Stragazer into an older carbed Mastercraft and skied behind it, seems to work just fine. I have the zbox in my 2007 Malibu and it just plugs into the Stargazer box. Call PP and get actual confirmation. They certainly have an interest in selling you their product so they probably will confirm it for you.
Baller jcamp Posted October 7, 2013 Author Baller Posted October 7, 2013 Thanks @h2oski1326 and @colo_skier
Baller DUSkier Posted October 8, 2013 Baller Posted October 8, 2013 Have PP with Z-box on our carbed Sportster. Was a simple plug and play, skis well and have a couple other Z-box boats on our lake as well, all but 1 perform well, it happens to be a DBW!!
