Baller Ilivetoski Posted June 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 9, 2014 I have not moved the fin from factory, but has anyone else noticed that on a 66" vapor the fin is set all the way back? I got some advice from a coach who said to move it forward and I noticed today that the thing can not go any farther back!
Baller Ilivetoski Posted June 9, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted June 9, 2014 @chrisrossi does that sound right? Could it have come from the factory slightly off?
Baller Chef23 Posted June 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 9, 2014 Have you measured the fin with calipers?
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 9, 2014 "All the way back" is not a fin measurement. Always measure a fin after getting it out of the box. FWIW.......... no, all the way back isn't correct. But you need an 8 inch micrometer to set it correctly.
Baller Ilivetoski Posted June 11, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted June 11, 2014 If I get to ski tomorrow, I am going to adjust it. I have not moved the fin from the factory and it is as far back in the fin box as possible. No I have not had a chance to measure it.
Baller Chef23 Posted June 11, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2014 You need to follow @ShaneH's advice and get a caliper or someone with one to measure and set your fin. Nobody can help you until you do that. Sometimes fins are right from the factory but it is rare. It takes time to get a fin set right and most factories don't take the time to do that. Baller ForrestGump Posted June 11, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2014 I pulled a 66 vapor from the box last week and it was dead nuts on Rossi's settings. That's not saying that they all ship that way. Always measure.
Baller Chris Rossi Posted June 11, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2014 Eddie and the others at the factory take pride in sending skis out set at our factory numbers as @ShaneH found out. The only way to be sure is to measure it. Is there something the ski could be doing better? I'm happy to help you dial the ski in further if necessary.
