Baller Ilivetoski Posted July 4, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 4, 2014 So the other day I ran an exceptionally good 32 off. I have run the pass 1 other time in my life but this one felt as good as my 28's (which I never miss in practice). After being pumped about this I was skiing the next day and looked down. While skiing the day I ran the 32, I had to take screws off my dads ski and put them on mine (due to stripped screws I took screws from my dads ski and put them on mine). As we are putting the bindings back on my ski we accidentally put the bindings 1 spot forward of where they normally are. I did not know this. I thought I was skiing with my normal spot, and it resulted in more buoys. So this popped a question into my head. Is this the best way to test new fin/ binding settings? I know when I adjust someones fin/ binding I always say "dont think about the move, just ski like you normally do" but the fact is that the change is in the skiers mind and they are expecting change. I dont necessarily think there is any way to do this but I think that if it was do able, changes to skis would be a much more skier friendly endeavor. Baller OTF Posted July 4, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 4, 2014 I change @ms fin and binding all the time when he's not at the dock and I am, I don think it helps him and doesn't seem to hurt him either but @horton keeps sending checks so I keep doing it. Baller gregy Posted July 4, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 4, 2014 I hear the Vapor skis well with the bindings in a range of places due to the flat spot under the feet. Seems like several people are saying to move bindings forward some on the Vapor thread.
Baller Ilivetoski Posted July 4, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted July 4, 2014 @gregy I focused that set on keeping my front knee bent to get the tip of the ski down in the water to slow down mainly into my onside. My problems have been coming from my onside at 32 lately. Offside is money, onside is over rotating, coming up out the water, and thus is not finishing the turn. Not sure if I want to move the fin because of how solid the offside is. Im going to put the bindings back to the spot that I ran the nice 32 tomorrow and see how that feels. Baller gregy Posted July 4, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 4, 2014 I'm out due to work for the next few weeks. I'm hoping to have a 67" Vapor waiting for me. I tried it a few weeks ago and really liked it. I have the #'s for the ski I tried. My T-factor bindings were in the center holes, wish I had measured it but at the time I had no intensions of getting a Vapor. The more I thought about how it skied the more I had to have it. Baller cragginshred Posted July 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 6, 2014 My 66" Vapor now has the front boot all the way forward and I ran a PB yesterday too!
Baller Texas6 Posted July 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 6, 2014 All the way forward - last hole on Strada bindings is roughly 30.25" to back heel of front boot - the placement is money
