I started thread yesterday called about a gate rule that is part of my Class C+ idea see here

I am pretty sure that gate idea is half baked but it is just one part of Class C+.

So why Class C+? What is the goal? Why would you ever want to do this? The idea is not for every tournament.

  • If skiers have potentially traveled thousands of miles to compete

  • If there are thousands of dollars of prize money at stake

  • Delays caused by things like video review are extremely undesirable (think webcast or fans on shore)

  • Complexity caused by technology are extremely undesirable

  • Event cost must be kept as low as possible

Below you will see more of Class C+ than posted before.

Class C+

Events will be run with the below standard. This standard will be known as “Class C+” and will be sanctioned as Class X

The purpose of “Class C+” is to the simplify and streamline the officiating burden without compromising integrity

“Class C+” will be meet all standards of USAWS Class C with the following modifications

End course video is required

Tower judges at will have absolute authority to judge the gates closest to their tower

All officials will hold a Regular or higher judges rating

A LOC may opt to run the event closer to Class E or above at their own expense.

Delays for video review will not be allowed

For the purpose of event placement scores will deviate from the USAWS rule book in the following ways

36 mph skiers will be scored on the same scale as 34 mph skiers

Example 4 @ 38 = 100 balls

Elite skiers and handicaps

Any male skier who has ever had a world ranking of 10th or above will be required to ski at 36

Any female skier who has never had a world ranking of 5th or higher will have 6 balls added to their score

Gates

All skiers will be required to pass between the entrance gates as per USAWS rule XXXX

If skier misses the entrance gates & then completes the pass

That pass would not be scored and the skier must re-run the pass

If the second attempt is successful the ride will continue

If the gates are missed on the second attempt the that pass will score zero

If this happens during the Head 2 Head the other skier will have the option to take an additional pass before continuing without risk

The reride pass will be taken in the same direction as the original attempt

If skier misses the entrance gates & then does not competes the pass

That pass would not be scored and the skier must re-run the pass but cannot improve on the score from the first attempt

Equipment

Skier handles will be measured before and after each ride

Any handle found to be long at check in will be rejected

Any handle found to be long after it is used will be cause for skier disqualification
