Administrators Horton Posted January 25, 2015 Administrators Posted January 25, 2015 On Thursday 1/15/2015 Rob was found by Nubia on the couch unresponsive, at their house in Panama. She called 911 and he was taken to the local emergency room where they performed blood work and a CT scan and found everything normal. He was then transferred to the level 3 Hospital in downtown Panama City (Santo Tomas), where he currently still is in ICU, in a coma. They have performed several CT scans, EKGs, Blood work, Toxicology tests, liver tests, kidney test, and EEG. The EEG has shown some diminished brain functions, but all the other tests have come back normal. To date, the doctors still do not have a reason for him to be in a coma. During this time, after the event, he has contracted pneumonia, with fluid in the lungs. The doctors have considered this normal and it is being fought with anti-biotics and he is almost clear of it. He is on a ventilator, as currently he is unable to obtain complete breathing on his own. It is critical that he gets an MRI of the brain, as that will show in much more detail, what is going on. Unfortunetely, the MRI at Santo Tomas is unopperable at this time. They are ready to take him to another hospital to get the MRI done, but due to his pneumonia and inability to breath on his own, he cannot be transported. They are working on getting him in a condition to transport including giving him a tracheotomy to help him breath on his own. They are also scheduling for him to have a doppler to measure the blood flow to the brain to check for any restrictions. He has had increased eyebrow movement over the past few days, and even opened his eyes for the nurses for a few minutes but was unable to make eye contact. His heart rate, blood pressure, and other vitals are strong. Panama has very good hospitals, and Santo Tomas is said to have the best ICU out of all the public hospitals in the country. They have not ruled anything 100% out, but they do not believe it to be a heart event, and it was obviously not a motorcycle accident or anything like that. A stroke is still a potential but the EEG did not show the signals that are common with a stroke. Thank you for you thoughts, prayers, and comments. We will continue to update as we can.
