Hah, I was just gonna post this and ask others to do the same. Instead I'll just say...done and added my 2cents as well.

I believe it went out to folks that DID qualify for Regionals (or Nationals) that did NOT attend. So if you qualified for Regionals (maybe Nationals not sure) and did not go, you should get the survey.

Done!

According to the survey intro text, it was sent to 2014 Nationals attendees.

FYI - the comment window at the bottom of the survey can be expanded. ;-)

(but I kept it concise) I should've just done like @skidawg.

I got one, never skied an AWSA event before this past summer. Think it was somewhat based on you ranking and if you attended regionals or nationals? I did not attend either (Colorado and Texas). With it being in our state in 2015, I will be attending regionals this year........ but unlikely to attend nationals due to the location. Just too far and costly for my one round of fun. Can't justify bringing the entire family unless I was in the hunt for the podium in M3..........

Sounds like there were 2 versions of the survey - one for skiers that qualified and DID ski nationals and another for those that qualified but DID NOT ski nationals.

There were three versions of the survey. One went to folks who skied in the 2014 Nationals. This group also included open skiers and others who has an excuse and didn't ski regionals.

A second, but similar survey went to folks who were eligible for Nationals AND skied Regionals.

Finally a third group received a still slightly different survey. This group were folks who were eligible to ski Nationals and did NOT ski Regionals.

"Eligible" skiers were those who are level 8/9 in any any event or overall, placed 1-5 in the 2013 Nationals, placed 1-5 in the 2014 Regoonals, raised their average above the cut off score after the cut off date or skied better than the cutoff score after the cut off date.

"Qualified" skiers are all of the above PLUS skied Regionals.

Some folks likely received multiple surveys because they listed the same email address for multiple family members (think parents/kids). If at all possible it's important to for them to fill out ALL the surveys to accurately capture the opinions.

In total the total of all three groups equals 1559 different people.

I have read a lot of the discussion on Nationals and I have my own ideas and need to sit down and write them out at some point.

I will be taking the survey for USAWS. I am one of the skiers who was qualified but did not attend Nationals this past year. Due to my finish in trick at Regionals (3rd) I was qualified, but my slalom scores and placement at Regionals did not secure me a spot in Nationals for slalom. (Yes you can laugh I qualified in trick and not slalom) If I had known one of my fellow M1 friends was going to be there with his jump gear before I registered I would have jumped and gone the Overall podium route from Regionals to Nationals.

My post Nationals slalom scores have put me into level 8 for the first time and I have always said that when I qualify in slalom my first year I will be attending. So look for me on the M1 dock at Nationals this coming year. If all goes well I may even be tricking and jumping.

I skied in 45 consecutive Nationals between 1968 and 2012. I missed the past 2. Good reasons. BUT, The real thing that I miss is my friends and the competition. I really don't care if it is one round or 3 rounds. I really don't care that I don't care about this. I REALLY care for the sport and that means that I care that other people care if it is 1 round or 3 rounds. SO that puts me back to square 1 on the format issue. I have been advocating a format change since skiflying came out in 2000. This sport is the dullest (unless you or your buddy are on the water) sport ever with the exception of golf. Until the format changes to fast moving, viewable events, I don't see any possible advancement. There would be a need for traditional 3 event situations because of IWWF rankings and qualifications. There have got to be some changes made!
