Baller drewski32 Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 I was expecting him to turn 2. Was he just too fast?
Administrators Horton Posted May 6, 2015 Author Administrators Report Posted May 6, 2015 At 43 there is ZERO margin for error. Baller drewski32 Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 @Horton I just expected him to go for it and fall instead of try to stand up. Considering the score was 1.5, I didn't think he would turn and make it to the wakes.
Administrators Horton Posted May 6, 2015 Author Administrators Report Posted May 6, 2015 @drewski32 I am 100% sure if CP thought he could have gotten more he would tried Aquadeck ★ Connelly ★ Goode ★ KD Skis ★ HO ★MasterCraft ★ PerfSki ★ Radar ★ Reflex ★ S Lines ★ Stokes ★ Baller Video Coaching System ★ Become a Supporting Member or make a One-time Donation
Baller_ Wish Posted May 6, 2015 Baller_ Report Posted May 6, 2015 Think about how quickly you have to make that decision.... Go for the turn and ball 3 or get all of ball 2 and "S" turn for the full 2. Mind boggling to think when you know which and how quickly that decision has to be made before it is to late. Literally a blink of an eye. If you do not commit to one or the other, I suspect that happens. But that is purely speculation.
Baller MattP Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 @Wish I doubt he wants anything at 2 ball... anything at 3 is the goal.
Administrators Horton Posted May 6, 2015 Author Administrators Report Posted May 6, 2015 @MattP No. Big goal is 3 but a score of 1.5 puts pressure on Nate, Will & The Fred. It matters. Baller gjohnson Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 Of the four skiers who've run 10.25 in the last 12 months, only CP has skied around buoy number 2 at 9.75. A feat he's accomplished five times. Yet never received credit for the full 2 buoys. He has scored 2 twice. In 2005 and 2010. Getting a full two must be wicked hard at 9.75.
Baller DmaxJC_ski Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 1 ball @41 was stellar! Wow that's Unreal.
Baller Chef23 Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 Awesome skiing. I can't imagine what the load is like at 41 and 43.
Baller jimbrake Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 @chef23 - it's scary. I feel that load at like 32' all the time.
Baller drewski32 Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 In my mind turning 2-ball and falling puts more pressure on the other guys than standing up for a full two. Millisecond decisions I guess...
Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted May 6, 2015 Gold Member Report Posted May 6, 2015 @drewski32 I'm all for changing the scoring system to make that true (and I'm being completely serious), but as it stands now 2 > 1.5, so I don't think I understand what you mean. @gjohnson Are you excluding Nate Smith? "Surely" it hasn't been a full year since he did it?
Baller Roger Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 The last time Nate got more than one was in 2013.
Gold Member Than_Bogan Posted May 6, 2015 Gold Member Report Posted May 6, 2015 @Roger WOW. Really? I guess time really does fly when you're old .
Baller Roger Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 I just looked up his scores on usawaterski.org and the first one more than 1 was in 2013. He has had some back issues, but I believe is doing ok physically right now and is just working out some issues with his ski. I fully expect him to round 2 ball again in the near future
Baller drewski32 Posted May 6, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 6, 2015 What I mean is it is more difficult to turn the ski and point at 3-ball like you mean business. Being able to turn 2 takes a lot more than barely getting there and standing up. If I see a skier turn a ball and go down trying I think he is more than capable of getting to the next on a good day. If he stands up, I might not think he's even close to getting to the next ball any time soon. In the video it looked to me like CP could've turned. He still would've scored 1.5, but it would've been more impressive.
Baller swc5150 Posted May 7, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 7, 2015 That is unreal skiing. It's a shame the world isn't privy to how difficult our sport can be. Running -43 would be like dunking from the 3 point line!
Baller Ralph Lee Posted May 7, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 7, 2015 More like a 360 from the free throw line
Baller drewski32 Posted May 7, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 7, 2015 @rico the reason I'm so surprised is because he had agreat 1. He was likely too fast to turn and get away with it, but he was by no means barely squeaking by. Pause when he's right on top of two... so relaxed
Baller bishop8950 Posted May 7, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 7, 2015 I can't run hose buoys and don't know what CP was thinking at any point. Looked to me like he actually got to much at one and was pulled up into two. It also looked like before he got to the apex of two he knew he wasn't going to three. I am glad there are a short list of likely suspects that could all push the record. No doubt when one gets to 2 ball the others feel it. Probably no better motivator for those guys than that.
Baller skidawg Posted May 7, 2015 Baller Report Posted May 7, 2015 good eye bishop, that was my first thought
