Baller Cumby85 Posted June 3, 2015 Baller Report Posted June 3, 2015 Nearly getting stranded with a major storm coming in this weekend got me thinking....anyone on bigger lakes use an emergency boat towing service? I think my insurance says they provide some service but I just have a hard time picturing them showing up.
Baller oldjeep Posted June 3, 2015 Baller Report Posted June 3, 2015 There is seatow on one of the lakes we use, but not much otherwise. Better off just opening the motor cover and waving, most folks are happy to help with a tow around here. Was on the receiving side several times with our first pos boat, and have reciprocated a few times since then.
Baller Ajskier Posted June 3, 2015 Baller Report Posted June 3, 2015 I used to work for a Boat US tower and you wouldn't believe the crap that we would go out in to save people. We were out when the Coast Guard wouldn't go out. If you are spending time on a large body of water, I would highly suggest getting tow insurance, most hull insurance policy's do not cover towing, they usually only cover groundings or something like that. If you are ever in need of a tow and can't flag down a good sam, a tow is very expensive. We would charge 150 an hour and that was before we added in things like weather or night. To get an unlimited Boat US membership is only $75 dollars and it is the best piece of mind that you can buy.
