Baller MattP Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 I think I saw @Ham_Wallace do that at Regionals this past year.
Baller thager Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 Pretty promiscuous jumping style Ham! Learned to jump in college?
Baller_ MISkier Posted November 11, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted November 11, 2015 Did anybody notice the lower right corner recap of the slalom runoff? The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Zman Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 One ski step off for a slalom landing? Awesome look of determination!
Baller ForrestGump Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 I wonder if Ham had a cat on a leash way back then, too?
Baller_ MISkier Posted November 11, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted November 11, 2015 You wouldn't get a picture this cool today. The helmet would block the facial expression and, in fact, you wouldn't even recognize the skier. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears. Baller liquid d Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 YEAH! Let's get rid of helmets....pansies!
Baller LLUSA Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 Forty years later and were still going to Tuscaloosa for the Regionals, matter of fact I have those EP jump skis Ham was using that day
Baller LeonL Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 Did you note the number of skiers entered? What year was that
Baller chris_logan Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 Good point @LeonL I don't know if we'd know what to do with ourselves if we had over 100 entries to a 3 event tournament that wasn't a regionals/nationals. That'd be one of the greatest awkward feelings to have though. @LLUSA I hope those are not among the others making up the fascia/cladding on your pavilion? kstateskier
I've already seen at least one "I hate winter" from Ham... Its never too early.
Baller LLUSA Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 That was the West Alabama Open in July of 1976 in Tuscaloosa, that tournament was two weeks before my first Southern Regionals in Tuscaloosa. Three Regionals down and two to go. I'll never learn. Without the financial support of Tuscaloosa these events would not be possible
Baller Gar Posted November 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2015 I bought a 1982 Ski Nautique from Roger Robbins in July of 1981! It was one of the first 2001 models kept it 17 years!

Baller A_B Posted November 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2015 I remember watching @Ham_Wallace at the 1978 Nationals held at Tivoli Gardens Michigan. That was my first ever tournament attended, whether watching or skiing. Had just been a river rat with gallon jugs patched together for a slalom course up to that point. I was entering college that year. I recall listening to the announcer and when he called out Ham Wallace, I just remembered the name for some reason. I have known a lot of hams, but first time I heard someone actually called Ham. Just guessing that's why I remember it. Ricky McCormick was Overall winner, Bob L. and Deena won Slalom for Open, which was really what we went to watch. That just added to my fire to learn how to get through the course better, and learn more tricks for trick skiing.
Baller LLUSA Posted November 13, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 13, 2015 In 1976 the city called out the National guard to park traffic due to the thousands that showed up to see the Southern Regionals. I met Ham in the early 70's at the Tide. The first time I ever drove a Ski Nautique was Ham's, there were 6 AXO in the boat that day.
Baller DanE Posted November 14, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 14, 2015 Someone I know claims Ham Wallace did a front flip through the entrance gates in a tournament on his opener and ran the pass. (22 off 36 mph?) Any truth to this ?@Ham_Wallace ?
