Baller DefectiveDave Posted November 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2015 I'm assuming you mean the 2.0mm blacktec? I voted <120F, but if it was a sunny day I would probably be fine at <110F.
Baller david_ski Posted November 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2015 Less than 120 is drysuit time. Less than 110 the camero top goes on beneath the drysuit
Baller igkya Posted November 15, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2015 110 if it's sunny, but I only have the 1.5mm top
Baller oldjeep Posted November 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 16, 2015 Less than 120 is drysuit? 120 is still swimsuit weather, You don't ever want to come to MN. ;)
Baller ALPJr Posted November 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 16, 2015 Don't know about Camaro, but my O'Neill BLP Assault 2m dry suit is good to about
Baller lakeaustinskier Posted November 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 16, 2015 I recently discovered a trick that would work with any top (but especially the Camaro) - tuck the bottom of the top into your shorts. I know it sounds simple and maybe a bit dumb but it really seems to minimize the blasts of cold water coming into the top.
Baller baja Posted November 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 16, 2015 Blacktec 2.0mm full suit has taken me to 50 degree water and 55 air with sun in comfort.
Baller jipster43 Posted November 17, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 17, 2015 I ripped the neck seal on my drysuit in the first week of our season and had to wear my blacktec 2.0 with 40* air and 45* water - several times. It wasn't ideal, but I wasn't miserable either. The exposed skin on my legs stung a bit, but the rest of me was warm. It took a while to wrap my brain around the fact that I wasn't freezing. As the season progressed the 2.0 began developing little pinholes and wasn't nearly as warm.
Baller OldboyII Posted November 17, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 17, 2015 Poor me, I dont have Camaro. Just anoter simple wetsuit. I also have some trics to make it warmer: if water/air go uncomfortably cold I put on warm running suit (tights and top) underneath wetsuit. It kills two rabbits in one shot - extreamly warm and easy to put it on.
Stewy
Last thursday air 37F, water 39F...... -40 baller index. Only body parts cold was face and hands. The blacktec 2.0 is an amazing suit!!! I recommend it as often as possible.
Baller chris55 Posted November 17, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 17, 2015 In Geneva, we ski with 50F water and 40F air temp and it is cold for the head but I am fine with a blackteck or a 4/3mm O'Neill psycho. Maybe we are so used to cold water......
Stewy
Another great clothing asset for the spring and fall my ski buddy and I use is a fleece lined neoprene hoodie we found on a kiteboarding website...works great for before and after skiing. Baller Fast351 Posted November 17, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 17, 2015 Was out Sunday 58 air, guessing 42 water, so right around 100. 4/3 O'neill wetsuit was very comfortable, only hands and feet were an issue. http://www.fast351.com/personal/NovSki2015/images/img_9687.jpg
Baller DefectiveDave Posted November 25, 2015 Baller Share Posted November 25, 2015 Skied yesterday in 59F water and 51F air with the 2.0 Blacktec. I felt great until the sun started to set.
Baller _ lpskier Posted November 26, 2015 Baller _ Share Posted November 26, 2015 Anything north of 80 BI is spring suit water. Anything south of 80 BI is dry suit water. Lpskier
Baller colo_skier Posted December 7, 2015 Baller Share Posted December 7, 2015 Skied a short set yesterday. Air 47 degrees (F) and water 34 degrees (F). 2.0 Camaro full with neoprene beanie and neoprene gloves. In general I was warm enough but my gloves had some leaks and a few fingers started to hurt. Only did 4 passes mostly due to not skiing for a few weeks and trying to hard versus the cold. according to Matts Baller index write up the number comes to -31.67. I was unable to find the baller index calculator on the right hand side. OK my bad it only appears when you are on the discussions page not while you are actually in a discussion.
