The 2015 World Championships are underway.

Scoring will be streaming live here http://www.iwwfed-ea.org/competition.php?cc=T-15IWWF02&page=live

From Des Burke Kennedy:

Carlos Lamadrid and the Mexican Federation took over these World Championships at very short notice when Italy was forced to withdraw and so money is very tight. We owe them a lot for stepping in to save the event. Budget pressures as a result may rule out the Webcast but we are working on having an edited TV show for global distribution later if all else fails.

Here is some interesting information about Boca Laguna Ski Club site. It is a man made ski lake that is located less than .5 mile away from Lake Chapala which is Mexico's largest fresh water lake at almost 50 miles long. The elevation is right at 5,000 feet which is pretty close to the elevation of some of the sites in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana . Here is a link to Google Maps: https://google.com/maps/place/Boca+Laguna+Water+Ski/@20.3176941,-103.1578808,2704m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x842f38c83af78c4f:0x4cc41392f3ec0698

Jacinta Carroll set a World Championship record yesterday in the prelims. Surpassing her own record she set at the last Worlds setting the record at 185'.

Giannia Bonnemann jumped a PB of 168' to make the finals.

As the image above states the Womens slalom prelim has been moved from today to Saturday due to the Congress meeting. Why this schedule change was not address until the event started is beyond me....

It is a strange water to ski, they are close to one of the biggest lakes in Mexico, but the water comes from a 350 feet deep well, it is hot, looks like coca-cola and it is really slippery (think about soap on it), hard to hold the handle, if you use RTP you have a big problem, your foot keeps coming out of it.

@rockdog TGas does have a few world championship titles under his belt.

I will say that the final 12 is a strong mix of skiers. A few names in the final 12 that stand out Martin Bartalsky and Brando Caruso as being new comers to the top of the elite. A few skiers Vaughn, Neveu, Winter, Detrick, Parsons, Allais, Odvarko and Adams (wow longer list than I was thinking) with a cut at 4@39 did not make it. Parrish just squeaking into the finals through a runoff.

Adam Sedlmajer has really set him self up for the Overall Race sitting 4th in Slalom.

Men's Final 12

Smith Nate

McClintock Jason

Degasperi Thomas

Sedlmajer Adam

Asher William

Burdick Cale

Bartalsky Martin

Winter Frederick

Travers Jonathan

Howley Joel

Brando Caruso

Parrish Chris

Overall Scoring: it's either Prelims or Finals. So, skiers that make the Finals get another chance

to improve. Think that Overall as a separate event wasn't held after 2003 (when Jimmy Siemers

won it at Swiss).

See World Rule 5. http://www.iwsf.com/rules/2015/World%20rules%202015.pdf

Adam Sedlmajer has a lock on Mens Overall after the Prelims. Martin Kolman, in 2nd, would need to run 12,370 in Trick Finals to catch him, although Adam is in all 3 Finals, and can improve. Jaret, in 3rd, would need his best trick run ever, 10700 ?, plus jump just short of Freddy's World Record.

Womens Overall is still pending. Slalom prelims. for Series 2 and 1 this AM. Several skiers in the mix,

and nearly all are in the Trick and Jump finals.

Adam Sedlmajer tricked a PB of 11,050 to take 2nd in the finals. Adam Pickos taking the title for the first time. Josh Briant in third. Possibly the youngest podium in a number of years? (note all 3 skiers are current or alumni of NCWSA)

Anna Gay tricks 10,010 for the win! I believe she is the 3rd woman to trick over 10k. Sets a new Worlds Tournament record. It was previous held at 9780 by Erika Lang. Neilly Ross taking 2nd with 9,500. Another young podium in the tricks event! The future of trick is looking strong.
