Ski Settings Public Data Log

Another attempt at an open sharing ski settings log.

 

Mainly interested in what others end up with on the T3, but all data welcome.

 

Of course DFT comparisons will vary but may still provide a general idea; length and depth comparisons should be close.

 

It is likely to get all jacked up, I believe @Horton tried it before with no reasonable results, but worth another go?

 

The form is easy to complete, write-in fields in place where needed (such as dual depths/Denali).

@Gloersen cool stuff. my efforts failed largely because I chose the wrong software way back when. That and it's really hard to get people to do what you want and the way you envision it. I like your approach. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

 

I see you're asking for BallOfSpray usernames. If you're thinking about some kind of authentication against those usernames we should talk about it offline.

I threw an entry in to try to get you some data. If I change my settings will it update what I put in there or start a new entry.

I put an entry but I have notes for many skis and I only use slot caliper to measure Goodes.

for those experienced in ski tuning; maybe this can eventually serve as a reliable reference.

Could be a really cool tool if enough people use it. I input the final setting on the last 3 ski's I've owned to help build it.

 

On a side note... I think it would be faster and simpler if the measurements were just manual inputs instead of selections. I also think the comments section might look a little cleaner if it was a wider column. Maybe add a column for speed and/or typical line length groups? Could even lump them together like 32mph or less, 34mph, and 36mph... 15off to 22off, 28off to 35off, 38off and up.

Not sure why, but I filled out the form on my phone and my lap top and couldn't complete the submission with either. I hit "submit" and nothing happens.

@Waternut no no no if you let the users do manual input you'll get some strange crap in the data.

@Horton What kind of weird stuff? I mean when the fin settings aren't even within 0.010" of what you use, you have to manually enter anyway.

Pretty easy to feed the data to a mobile app once you have enough of it.

@Waternut, thanks for the data and the suggestions. Maybe a few less entries in the list will result in less scrolling. I’ll do it if I can format the “type in" fields to result in the right numbers, though if the number is in the list it is convenient to just click on it.

 

Insofar as speed and line length I concur, but thought the comments field would suffice; e.g. PB=3@38off/34.2, etc.

 

@lpskier, John I’m not sure why your entries wouldn’t be submitted. I suspect some field entries were missed; all are “required” except comments, height, weight, and front binding type. Likely the “technique” (caliper) entries didn’t have a circle filled for each column of every row (4 rows x 6 columns). The “percent complete” status bar at the bottom will be removed as it reads "100% complete" inaccurately all the time.
