Baller NEO Posted April 3, 2016 Baller Share Posted April 3, 2016 Anyone know of a good product for attaching the insulation that is starting to come undone on inside of boat engine cover. Would like to find a spray adhesive that is resistant to high tempatures. I see auto parts stores sell spray adhesive for roof liners in the interior but can they withstand the heat? Baller LeonL Posted April 3, 2016 Baller Share Posted April 3, 2016 Probably not. That's what was most likely on there from the start. You can get brush on contact cement that is better for your application, as you eliminate any overspray. 3M used to market weatherstripping adhesive in a tube that may work well for you. Yellow stuff.
Baller gregy Posted April 3, 2016 Baller Share Posted April 3, 2016 The brush on contact cement should work but make sure to clean the surface really good and follow the directions. You may need to rough up the fiberglass surface with some sandpaper. At least 2 coats on both surface and let it dry between coats.
Baller_ DW Posted April 5, 2016 Baller_ Share Posted April 5, 2016 3M 90 spray adhesive is pretty good stuff, good to 250 F according to data sheet. Try it on a small piece first as it can/will melt some materials.
