Johnbrannan Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I only have about 5 hours on it, but three times the screen has gone blank, once rendering the engine difficult to re-boot and power up. While the screen is blank, the engine ran, then came on half way down the course, under no speed control. Anyone have this issues on 2016's
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted May 2, 2016 Baller_ Posted May 2, 2016 It needs to go to the dealer for repair or replacement.
Baller acmx Posted May 2, 2016 Baller Posted May 2, 2016 Had a new 200 do that to me while driving a tournament last year. The screen blanked when entering course but felt like ZO was still in control, had to turn master switch under dash off to get screen back, was all good then and showed times for the pass it blanked out on.
Baller ForrestGump Posted May 2, 2016 Baller Posted May 2, 2016 Had one that did that a few years ago. Dealer replaced under warranty and all fine.
Baller Kelvin Posted May 3, 2016 Baller Posted May 3, 2016 I knew there was a reason my 200 has the old style dash!
Baller Chef23 Posted May 3, 2016 Baller Posted May 3, 2016 That is what makes me a little nervous about those screens.
Baller mmosley899 Posted May 3, 2016 Baller Posted May 3, 2016 The Whitestone boat blank screen turned out to be a problem with the power distribution module. Mike's Overall Binding USA Water Ski Senior Judge Senior Driver Senior Tech Controller
Johnbrannan Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Update: So with the help of CC, the LINC screen was replaced under warranty by my dealer. But, the boat ran six passes, then died again. It shut down during a slow deceleration to pick up the skier, and never started again, so it's back to the dealer for more investigations. Bummer.
Johnbrannan Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 So my dealer did some more investigations, and found two loose connections, and were able to reproduce an arc in the shop, and there was a blown fuse at the battery switch. It has been running fine since, although we are reluctant to be alone on the lake still........
303Skier Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Seen it happen in a few 15's too. Just required a power toggle.
J3 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Not sure gauges are any better. I had a ZO head unit and a gauge cluster fail in my 13.
Baller_ The_MS Posted May 20, 2016 Baller_ Posted May 20, 2016 I dont understand the need for one in a tug boat.
Johnbrannan Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 So I went to ski today, and the LINC booted up, all of the gauges including the voltmeter (12 volts) and the gas gauge and thermometer, etc worked, the power went to the fuel pump, then absolutely nothing went to the starter, nothing. I did a couple of shut downs, and power on/offs, and still nothing. So it's back to the dealer. Nautique engineers, what do you think? JB
Baller Mark Petrie Posted May 23, 2016 Baller Posted May 23, 2016 Check the starter relay. It is on the top of the engine in a small plastic box. Mine did the same, push in the starter relay and mine worked thereafter.
Baller skiinxs Posted May 23, 2016 Baller Posted May 23, 2016 Did you try wiggling the throttle handle a little? Sometimes the nuetral safety switch could need a little adjustment.
Baller thager Posted May 23, 2016 Baller Posted May 23, 2016 I had something similar with my 196 earlier this spring. Connections to the starter were wet. Put hair drier on it for 2-3 minutes and boat started right up. Weird but it solved the problem.
Baller jpwhit Posted May 23, 2016 Baller Posted May 23, 2016 Besides wiggling the throttle in case the neutral switch was open, you should also always check the safety kill switch lanyard. Both will result in the exact behavior you've described.
Johnbrannan Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Thanks for these tips, I did check the kill switch, and it is fine.
Johnbrannan Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 So it looks like it was the throttle that was not in full neutral when I pressed start, we'll see how it goes, thanks for all of the advice.
Baller ozski Posted December 23, 2017 Baller Posted December 23, 2017 Having some issues with a blank screen on our 2017 200. Can take several minutes to 30 minutes to get the screen to boot. Only after the boat has been sitting and once it works its good for the day.
Baller dave2ball Posted December 23, 2017 Baller Posted December 23, 2017 @ozski when you turn on the main powers switch do you wait 10 to 15 seconds befor hitting the start button? By waiting this may solve your problem. It did mine.
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted December 23, 2017 Baller Posted December 23, 2017 @ozski You need to wait until the screen says "booting" in the upper left hand corner of the screen before starting the boat. Hit start once, then start again after the 10 to 15 seconds like @dave2ball said.
Johnbrannan Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 Mine hasn’t crashed hard like it did last year, but every once in a while, it does not boot up properly. In those cases, I have it do a true boot down and then another boot up. I wonder if it because some people just turn off the battery switch after usage, without doing a proper boot down........
Baller ozski Posted December 24, 2017 Baller Posted December 24, 2017 I agree, the shut down should be done correctly. If you just turn the engine off but fail to power down then turn off the battery switch it seems to trigger problems the next time you use it.
Baller BraceMaker Posted December 24, 2017 Baller Posted December 24, 2017 Boats should be robust and not need coddled to perform properly. No one would put up with this on an offshore boat.
Baller skierjp Posted December 25, 2017 Baller Posted December 25, 2017 You wouldn't power down your computer without closing apps first.
Baller BraceMaker Posted December 25, 2017 Baller Posted December 25, 2017 @skierjp literally all the time. This isn't 1993 no one ejects their usb and everyone shuts laptop screens and stuffs them in the bag. You should just turn off the key and leave it.
Baller WoodySkier Posted December 25, 2017 Baller Posted December 25, 2017 So people are just flipping the battery switch without shutting the boat down? That’s like just unplugging your computer when you’re done using it and wondering why it doesn’t boot up right next time. I never have a problem with mine, just punch in code and hit stop twice and it shuts down every time correctly. Starts up correctly every time too. Only reason to flip battery switch off is if you’re not going to be using it for a while.
