Baller disland Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 Sorry hit enter too soon, and I cant edit it, wanted to have another choice of rubber other than Wileys
Baller Chef23 Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 I am on a Radar front with a RTP. I assume that qualifies as some sort of hard shell.
Baller oldjeep Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 Not sure that my Connelly sidewinders would qualify as rubber or hardshell. Very few "rubber" bindings, but many that are not hardshells.
Baller rodltg2 Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 I have a bad problem with my rear foot cramping up. So bad that I can only ski 4 passes till the pain gets unbearable. Sometimes I just pull my foot out in between passes so I can manage 6 passes. I've tried fluid motions and whatever Radar hybrids where avail at the time. No luck on relieving the pain and lost ski time trying to get used them. Never could. Feel like the only bindings that work for me are the d3 leverage.
Baller jetpilotg4 Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 Rubber Baby !!! Did hard shells a couple seasons 15 years ago, never fell in love with them.
Baller disland Posted May 13, 2016 Author Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 A lot more rubber than I anticipated
Baller PatM Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 Bend on hardshells for 11 years now.
Baller Marco Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 Reflex front, rubber D3 rear for me.
Baller chris55 Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 HO Animal +rtp but I would like to try reflex
Baller gregy Posted May 13, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 13, 2016 I was on d3 t factors. Went to reflex last fall
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted May 13, 2016 Baller_ Report Posted May 13, 2016 Radar front, D3 high wrap rear.
Baller smalor Posted May 14, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 14, 2016 D3 T Factor front with Wileys C.B.O rear
Baller_ MISkier Posted May 14, 2016 Baller_ Report Posted May 14, 2016 Double Wileys highwraps. Pro Series Dual Density. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.
Baller Fjeff Posted May 14, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 14, 2016 I have been using double power shells for the past 8 years. I got a new stick today and also decided to switch to a single boot with a kicker. I received my new fluid motion boot today. Trying to mount my new ride but for the life of me I can't figure out how to open the toe clamp ratchet. I am not sure if the one I received is broken or I am just stund. Any advice on how this clamp is supposed to open would be appreciated. Thanks
Baller JackQ Posted May 14, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 14, 2016 Not on wileys, D3 T factors. Tried Hard Shells, no improvement in performance just more hassle and significant increase in probability of injury. Much higher percentage of Achilles and other injuries on hard shells.
Baller LeonL Posted May 14, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 14, 2016 Was on hard shells (Fogman) from '02 to '10. Been on T-Factors since then. Mostly decided to change for ease of trying other skis. My performance didn't suffer, only comfort for extended sets or waiting on starting dock.
Baller ALPJr Posted May 14, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 14, 2016 Went from long time dbl Animals to dbl XMax direct connect which I find more comfortable and stiffer latterly.
block Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 I tried hard shells several years ago. I am back on rubber (Tfactors) I like them , they have great lateral support and seen to be as safe as any binding on the market.
Administrators Horton Posted May 14, 2016 Administrators Report Posted May 14, 2016 Some smart guys I know have been talking to me about going to T-Factors or back to Vapor Boots. The idea is that you can move your hips forward more without directly pressuring the ski. As I understand it - they want to pressure the ski with their feet not their shin and be able to be much farther forward at exit of apex. I am not sure I am going to make the change but it is interesting. bogboy Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 Wilies pro build front ( thicker and stiffer than pro series), and wilies pro series for rear. It's really all i know, as i have been on them for years. I have thought about trying a hard, or d3, but haven't gotten aroun to it yet.
Baller Deanoski Posted May 14, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 14, 2016 Horton just do the reflex mods and problem solved!!
sixball Posted May 15, 2016 Report Posted May 15, 2016 Love my Wileys! I am at the, could use large or medium. Ran large for many years. I tried the mediums back about seven years ago and just think they are so much better for me. I was concerned with cramping with the tighter bindings but have none, and they just fit so much better. I am to old to change much so I am betting I will ride with Wileys the rest of my ski time! Now if we can just get some warmer weather.
Baller east tx skier Posted May 15, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 15, 2016 I have gone back to Wiley's Pro Build this year after 4 years or so on Strada boots. Think I am going to like it.
303Skier Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 I went to shells, goode/reflex about 4 years ago and not sure if I regret it or not? something to think about...Most World Records have been set using rubber.
Baller Drago Posted May 16, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 16, 2016 Went from hard shells to rubber (tFactors, the white Connellys before that), got my smoothness and buoys back
sodbuster88 Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 Also back to Wiley's pro builds after years in animals.
Baller RAWSki Posted May 17, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 17, 2016 HO Animal Front, Venom Rear. Want to try a new hard shell, tried Goode Versions 1.0 and hated them.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted May 17, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 17, 2016 Like Chef23, I'm on a Radar front and RTP. Have been since 2008.
Baller mcskier41 Posted May 17, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 17, 2016 Previously had the white cuff reflex front with radar strada rear. This winter I had the privilege of working 2 months at a ski school in Fla which allowed me the golden opportunity to demo all types of new stuff. Demoed the T factor keeping my strada in back. Came home with the T Factor and still love it. Plenty of stiffness laterally with all the forward and back movement I need. Have already improved over last year but could be the new ski I also brought back.
Baller_ The_MS Posted May 18, 2016 Baller_ Report Posted May 18, 2016 @GBPackers1 That is from years of drinking paint thinner at Packer games.
Sivota Posted May 18, 2016 Report Posted May 18, 2016 Was on Reflex, tried R-style too. Now Vapor and RTP. Waiting for delivery of HRTP. Vapor is fantastic, feels safe [we shall see] and can feel the ski.
Baller Nando Posted May 19, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 19, 2016 So, I normally leave my reflex on my ski between sets, but left my front shell in the boat and it got hooked on the rope, flipped in the lake and lost. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it- it's possible it fell off the platform. Stupidity is expensive.) So, until my new Reflex comes, I've regressed to an Animal front boot. C'mon FedEx!
Baller disland Posted May 19, 2016 Author Baller Report Posted May 19, 2016 @nando give us a report. How did it go?
Baller Nando Posted May 20, 2016 Baller Report Posted May 20, 2016 disland, it was really surprising how natural it felt, since the transition to the hardshell took a bit to get used to the added responsiveness. Having spent a decade or so on Animals vs. a season and a half on Reflex may have helped. That said, it's early here in south Canada and my technique is still pretty shaky. What I did notice is that tip engagement was lacking, though that may be a function of the binding being very slightly too far back on the ski as much as the binding not being as sensitive.
