Tdub Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I am so thankful that my wife of 39 years still enjoys my passion for this sport and loves skiing our site on combos. She loves the workout and our sport. She is ready for a new pair of combos. She weighs 115 and would like better fitting bindings than the old school horseshoe rubber bindings. What length? And any particular brand and model? She is currently on 67's. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Jdubs Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Although they are never cheap a good old pair of jumpers are tons of fun.
Baller oldjeep Posted September 20, 2016 Baller Posted September 20, 2016 Something like this should fit the bill. HO doesn't seem to have their old sandal style bindings anymore but the Burner comes with a wakeboardish type boot. 115 is small enough for the 61's HO Burner
Baller Cent Posted September 20, 2016 Baller Posted September 20, 2016 I acquired a used set of jumpers. They really work and can greatly enhance the experience if you can locate a set. As to bindings they can be changed to something that fits and that she likes on most any ski.
Baller BraceMaker Posted September 20, 2016 Baller Posted September 20, 2016 For those in the know - how do you compare the ride of jumpers vs the ride of basic combos?
Baller ALPJr Posted September 20, 2016 Baller Posted September 20, 2016 HO Blast Combos. Excellent for beginners through novice slalom. Taught many - kids to adults on our 63''s.
Baller gsm_peter Posted September 20, 2016 Baller Posted September 20, 2016 My 2 cents A happy wife gives me a very, very happy life. Since she enjoys to ski with you, you are super lucky. Try to get her decent skis but with the very best comfortable, warm bindings available. Jumpers or regular skis? Why not try to get her both so she can try and see what she likes best? Best luck and keep us posted on the result!
Baller_ Wish Posted September 21, 2016 Baller_ Posted September 21, 2016 Parabolic combos are the best. Hour glass shaped. I have a pair from yrs ago. On the single I can run 32 off at 24 or 22mph (can't remember speed exactly). So performance is there for when the single ski starts getting used. But even riding both its amazing how sharp they will turn if you want them to. Very easy to get up on both double and single. You can get pretty short ones too as surface area is massive. https://connellyskis.com look for Eclipse model
Baller MuskokaKy Posted September 22, 2016 Baller Posted September 22, 2016 Depending on the amount of riding she does I would also recommended a good used pair of jumpers. I bought a pair last year just to ride around on the open waters when its too choppy for slalom but I still want to get out. They can be a little pricey but i found it to be worth it. Now if i can only grow a pair to take them off the jump LOL
Baller Ski_Dad Posted September 23, 2016 Baller Posted September 23, 2016 we have a pair of 63" HO Excel - if you can find a pair of these New Old Stock that would work well. My kids use them. I've even tried them at over 200lbs - i really like the rubber binding compared to some. here is a pair: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Excel-Combo-Ski-63-Waterski-Skis-/112090868314?hash=item1a1922ea5a:g:sLYAAOSw6n5Xrgxe
