I am pretty unhappy about the anonymous post in the "Witchhunt" thread. I am slowly working on some new roles on the site so if you are not a member of USAWS/AWSA or one of the other affiliated federations you will not be able to comment on specific threads. I will not be able to enforce anything until I do some work but if you are a member of AWSA/USAWS or the canadian asso or some other federation you should populate your membership filed with your number.

Update:

So I got up at a$$Crack:30 today to make some tweaks to the forum security and user system. I figured out that it would be nearly impossible to control rights to some threads/ categories based on USAWS or IWWF federation numbers. Instead I set up some rules that grant access to users who are likely long time participants in organized tournaments.

Bottom line I would still like to encourage everyone to add their member number if they have one as well as their real name and other details. If for some reason this seems like and invasion of privacy then don’t worry about it.

If you do add your number to your account you may want to shoot me a message. Your member number is no one of 4 or 5 signals that triggers a change in your account.

FYI international and technically challenged Ballers only have to request inclusion. The goal is to reduce posts by Ballers who literally do not ski tournaments and sneaky spammy BS.

@Horton I disagree with excluding Ballers, as in Ballers who do not ski in tournaments, but your site, your rules. I added my real name, I'll add my AWSA # and I will still avoid commenting on "specific threads" in the future.

I will just sit back and watch if that's ok.

I am happy to add mine. Just a heads up for any that have a real need to not have their names known (sponsor agreements, etc.), it is easy to look up a name from a AWSA number using the "find my rankings" button on the AWSA website under the national rankings link. It is also easy to look up a AWSA number using a name with the same link. At least they stopped using our social security numbers as our member numbers several years ago:)

@skiinxs anyone who has a legit reason to mask their identity need only contact me directly and I will hand wave their account.

Again the reason for this is only for future threads where anonymity is not in the best interest of the sport. (like the Witch hunt thread) The forum is almost always for the general skiing public.

Last thing.... any restriction of posting rights is applied to very few threads. The purpose is to keep those topics on topic. 99.999% of the members here will not even notice the change.
