Baller PurdueSkier Posted October 15, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 15, 2017 A few of my ski partners and myself are looking into an opportunity to lease a private lake for skiing. Site is currently an abandoned gravel pit that isn't being used at all. Does anyone have an example of a lake lease I could use as a starting point? Baller PurdueSkier Posted October 16, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted October 16, 2017 Does anyone on here lease their Lake? Surely somebody does.
Baller LoopSki Posted October 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 17, 2017 Wish I could help , but I tossed out the one we had. The lake didn't work out as we could not get the weeds under control. Cost to treat was not worth it as it had in flow and out flow. So the problem would have never gone away. Anyhow hope someone else comes along with something for you. Baller PurdueSkier Posted October 17, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted October 17, 2017 Thanks @LoopSki. Hopefully someone will have something. Otherwise I can start from scratch.
Baller A_B Posted October 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 17, 2017 Try to hookup with Ski Atlanta (OB). I think he leased from the City, which is likely to be a contract with everything and the kitchen sink thrown in.
Baller kc Posted October 17, 2017 Baller Share Posted October 17, 2017 @PurdueSkier have you contacted USAWS to see if they have anything? They might at least point you in the right direction, toward someone who does. Good luck! What area in Indiana is the gravel pit located? A small group of us leased many years ago from IMI. We were fortunate enough to have an in with the right contact. Thing that was most important to them was liability. The club insurance policy offered by AWSA at that time, naming them as an additional insured was good enough for them back then. We also sold them on the idea that our activity there would be a deterrent to the “undesirables” that might otherwise be hanging out there doing who knows what. Baller _ lpskier Posted October 17, 2017 Baller _ Share Posted October 17, 2017 @PurdueSkier Don’t be a “Di-it-Yourself-Lawyer.” Hire an attorney to do your lease and to set up your club as a corporation or LLC. Money spent up front will save you tons of aggravation, heartbreak and money in the long run. Lpskier
