Yesterday entered my 1st tournament yesterday. Did the Mother's Day Trick and Slalom at Paradise Ski Club in Mulberry Fl. Great little event, good group of people, great site. Extra benefit of watching some open level tricking with Chantal Singer, Erica Lang, and Franck Desboyaux entered. Chantal even sat in as boat judge for my 1st run.

#1 goal going in was to get through the gates on 1st pass, and complete that pass. As my practice best is a full run at 30 mph, and just a couple at 30.4. I did an opening pass at 26.7. Got through 26.7 and 28.6 easily, and got on up to my best at 3 and 3.5 at 30.4. I now have my 1st official PB of 3.5 at 15 off, 30.4 mph.

Thanks to Jodi Fisher for all of his frustrations training me over the last year, and Stan and the rest of the crew at Paradise Ski Club for a great event.

Back to work, keep inching the speed up, and more tournaments....

@ScottScott great! Glad to hear another skier enjoyed their first tournament. You picked a good site as Stan, Donna, Ruth and the rest of the group at Ski Paradise know how to run tournaments, and they're good people.

Hey, thanks @dave2ball Lots of new faces to meet...didn't realize who all was there, and names go in one ear and out the other with that many. Skiing great is all relative, skied up to my potential which I'm happy with doing it on the spot in a tournament setting, especially the 1st. See you at more tournaments I hope.

@LeonL I'm looking at the running order, and I see 5 women and 11 men slalom. Then many of the same in trick, plus 5 that tricked but didn't slalom (that includes the 3 open skiers that tricked.) Certainly not a 2 day deal. I can't remember exactly what skiers may not have made it. More like some that tricked but didn't slalom....

@ESPNSkier Thanks....good to hear from you. Hope all is well...

I just checked and the scorebook has been posted. Eleven slalom and 6 who tricked only. Small numbers compared to the old days. The numbers at our site continue to drop. Our Labor Day weekend slalom last year had only 8 skiers. We can't keep on at that rate. We have a 3 round slalom scheduled for June 9. We'll see what that yields.

@ScottScott Congratulations on your first event and to be able to ski your PB at your first event is truly amazing. As soon as they are finished being made we will be sending you a PB sticker to put on your ski, they are going to be like the college football stickers they put on helmets. Hope to see you at more events.
