Baller Skoot1123 Posted May 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 21, 2018 Maybe a basic question here but was wondering what most folks on here have been using when they needed to replace the spark plug wires on the GT40 351w engine. I also have a Chevy 350 (Indmar Assault 325) that would do well to have some new wires too. Thanks for the help!
Baller eleeski Posted May 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 21, 2018 Change the wires? It's time for a new boat! Or at least a re engine. Eric

Baller JackQ Posted May 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 21, 2018 Why are you changing wires? Marine plug wires generally are not radio suppression as most cars and typically do not degrade. You can test the resistance with a cheap ohm meter to see if they are good or not. Should be in the range of 2-3k ohms per foot of length, if in spec new wires will not be of any value. Typically when bad the reading will be 100k or no reading.

Baller DW Posted May 21, 2018 Baller Share Posted May 21, 2018 @Skoot1123 : I went with some Taylor wires on a SBC, got a universal kit and did the ends myself for a good custom install. If you have PP you need radio suppression wires if you want to ensure your display does not suffer from interference. Due to relatively low temperatures, the wires on a tourney ski boat don't take the abuse of a car application thanks to water cooled exhaust manifolds.
