Baller JeffSurdej Posted June 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 8, 2018 -I'm very happy to announce that Mystic lakes has put together over $40k in cash prize money to bring back a 6 event pro event at the GOODE US Nationals. The tradition of the US Open at nationals was always great and we are hoping to brand this new event called the America's Cup Invitational into just that and maybe eventually bring back the US Open, but after 2 successful night jump events, this year we are adding slalom and trick. All Level 9 and 10 US only skiers will be invited to ski. The open divisions of GOODE Nationals will be the prelims with finals taking place Friday night from 6-10 pm for all 6 events. All 3 boat companies stepped up huge to support the event as well as many other sponsors. More info to come at usawaterski.org

Baller_ lpskier Posted June 13, 2018 Baller_ Share Posted June 13, 2018 Well, despite what people think about the Level 10 Rule, and some other controversial rule changes, you can’t say that AWSA leadership is sitting on its hands and not trying to improve the National tournament. Kudos, @JeffSurdej, and kudos to Mystic Lakes for taking on the extra burden of more events. Lpskier
Baller EricKelley Posted June 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 13, 2018 This is a big deal in a lot of ways. Thanks to all who were involved in getting this done and to the sponsors who financially supported it.
Baller Drago Posted June 13, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 13, 2018 @JeffSurdej so, asking for a friend: b3-m10,G3-w10, if they have a level 9 or higher?
Baller JeffSurdej Posted June 13, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted June 13, 2018 @Drago yes, as long as you have an open rating, i.e eligible for L9 you can enter the America's Cup.
Baller bishop8950 Posted June 14, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 14, 2018 Very cool @JeffSurdej Fun for those that get to ski in it and great spectators as well. If evolving our nationals format is that big of a hurdle, why not build around it. Keep it up.
Baller AdamCord Posted June 14, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 14, 2018 @JeffSurdej This is amazing, thank you for helping put this together! For us wannabe pro skiers - how many people make it to the finals? Do we need to enter as a separate tournament? If so do we pay two entry fees for the same nationals round? Baller JeffSurdej Posted June 14, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted June 14, 2018 @bishop8950 @AdamCord thanks for the positive remarks, we are pumped, just like the good ole US Open days, this is just as much for the nationals skiers as it is for the pro's. Anyways we should have the finals breakdown ASAP, leaning towards 4, maybe a bit more in MS and MJ.

Baller RAWSki Posted June 22, 2018 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2018 Very Cool .It's a great step .I just wish the overall dollars were higher. At least equal to the individual payouts to make it rewarding for those that will compete in more than their best event.
