Administrators Horton Posted September 7, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 7, 2019 There's only about 60 or 70 people that can see this thread & no industry people. So take the gloves off. Honestly do you think you ski is well behind the new boat? And if you do actually like it is that because you get to practice behind one on a regular basis? Baller jayski Posted September 7, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 7, 2019 The ski Nautique or new 200? The Ski that had been flashed is good, I have a few tournament rounds behind two different ones with 6.2's and it feels soft and really good. Last years versions were terrible. Baller bishop8950 Posted September 7, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 7, 2019 I have grown to appreciate boats with strong pulls. I also do get to ski the new Nautique boat quite a bit, and like it. When the puck was wrong it was terrible. With that fixed And at this point I would say I prefer it. That said, I feel like I can PB behind any of the current tournament boats.
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted September 8, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted September 8, 2019 The handful of sets I've had behind it has felt really good. I use C1+. All the boats are different, but for the most part, the difference between lakes, ropes, and drivers is much greater than the differences between boats - including the new Nautique. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller Drago Posted September 8, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2019 Hmm. Well, driving I still much prefer a 200, then MC,SN,Malibu. I drove a clinic for 2 days all day to "get" the SN and i still feel a funky timing/ lack of feel requiring more driving with sight. I'm concerned/convinced that nobody gets wheel time with the SN and that is what's effecting us non-pros. Skiing is a tough one as my body is falling apart, but, like Bruce, I like C1+. (I ski a B1+ with MC). If you look under the SN, theres a lot of crap hanging down. Regardless of power, I feel its pushing a heck of a lot of water. Horton, you should try + (w/your boat too) OFF TOPIC RANT: if I were king of a promo program, I would require a boat to be available all official practices and then some. Not "promoting " a boat by making people guess for one round what their settings will be and what the thing feels like, and making drivers hop in and get it right away. Administrators Horton Posted September 9, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted September 9, 2019 If I skied behind it all the time it might be ok but for me is really sucks. Seems no one I see at tournaments likes it. Baller Milford Posted September 9, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2019 I don’t mind skiing behind it. For me there is a significant bump at -28, but goes away at -32. The wake table is much larger than MC or Malibu, so I make sure my initial move on gate pullout is right at the edge of wake. It is a step backwards from the 200. Driving it seems to be ok, but I just don’t understand why anyone would pay an extra $20K to get this boat, when there are similar/better options out there for a lot less $$. Baller fizer Posted September 9, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2019 I'm a Malibu guy but I don't mind skiing behind the new Nautique. If you have spent some time driving some shortline in one you probably understand the boat better. It rocks (literally - side to side) and I think it takes an experienced driver to not overreact to the rocking. Shorter the rope gets the more it rocks. It is a much more driver-sensitive boat than was the 200. I go C2 behind a 6L Malibu but B2 behind the new Nautique. Definitely my least favorite brand to jump behind - not that you guys care about that.
Baller Drago Posted September 9, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2019 @fizer Agree on the driving part, and i think it effects the pull unless you're behind an experienced driver with quality SN wheel time
Administrators Horton Posted September 15, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted September 15, 2019 Ok so I am the only one who really hates the pull. Baller Drago Posted September 15, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2019 @Horton Sorry, i can't really ski well enough anymore to tell you. My worst-feeling but most-buoy-count set this summer was behind the SN
Administrators Horton Posted September 15, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted September 15, 2019 I have had a few very good rides behind them & a great number of extremely humbling rides. I don't think the pull is consistent from boat to boat. Baller matthewbrown Posted September 15, 2019 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2019 Nearly everyone I’ve talked to does not like the pull, of course these are the same people that call in to question their fin settings, binding placements, boat driver, boat prop, and quality of the food at the onsite snack shack when their ride sucks so take it for what it’s worth.
